Saved my bacon!
Anyone who has done electrical work knows it sucks to get shocked. Anyone who does electrical work probably also has guessed wrong about the wiring or circuitry at least once. I was on the fence about needing this tool, since I have a multimeter and routinely use it to check things before and during my work. But recently I was using this NCVT, and realized sometimes I'm wrong about which wire is live on a light switch, and a multimeter isn't as effective at telling you that. It's easy to identify live wires and cables, to tell if multiple circuits are involved in a junction box (maybe you didn't turn off the right breaker yet!) and it works for low voltage too, which is where I spend a lot of time, just adjust for low sensitivity or high sensitivity as needed. Overall, it's made a believer of me.

Adjustable sensitivity (9 Steps) and audio-visual detection strength (3 Levels)
This isn't the perfect product, but don't let this stop you from choosing this specific non-contact voltage detector. Like all such products (and there are MANY) it suffers from the same problems: at times too sensitive and at other times not sensitive enough. The reason is simple enough: these voltage detectors are based on the assumption that the person holding the detector in his hands is at ground potential (or close to it) and that doesn't always happen to be the case. Where this specific product stands out is that the sensitivity can be adjusted in 9 steps. This allows you to reduce the sensitivity in situations where there is so much energy in the area that the detector alerts even near non-conducting materials or at no object at all in mid-air. The multiple detection levels help to distinguish between weaker (possibly false positive) signals and stronger detection (likely to be an actual live circuit). I personally don't trust these voltage detectors to keep me safe when working on electrical circuit. The reason I bought this detector was for troubleshooting light strings and with its adjustable sensitivity and 3 level strength indication it does work reasonably well for that purpose (much, much better then voltage detectors that are not adjustable and only have a single alert level). I would not recommend it as a safety tool for a job site as it does appear fragile (lightweight plastic). Thrown into a bag of heavy tools it would probably not last very long. The reason I'm giving it 5 stars is for the sensitivity adjustment and multi-level alerting. I tested those features and they work very well for my intended purpose.

Amazingly sensitive
I have never owned a non-contact tool as sensitive as this thing. It's AMAZING. On the highest sensitivity, you will be able to tell there are nearby live wires. Not exactly where, but that there are some nearby. If anything, it may be too sensitive. At the lowest sensitivity it will even point which side of a double stranded wire is the hot side. That's pretty amazing for such an inexpensive tool. I keep it at #7 to start, then go up or down as needed for the job at hand. On #1 (least sensitive) and near a live peeled wire, it definitely let's me know if there's any danger. Unfortunately it will not help if triangulate if the wires are behind drywall. The results are too erratic, but that's not what this tool is designed for.

Easily the best
I have used many brands of these NCV type testers over the years. Pretty much anything from a big box store, I've had it. Southwire just happens to be my latest one before purchasing the Hanmatek. They were all quick and convenient for detecting power, nothing ground breaking there (see what I did?). Then Southwire added an LED flashlight so between that and a sale, they impulsed me right into buying it lol. But it's strange, the flashlight is on the side facing away from the detection tip. No matter, I never used it anyway haha. I posted a pic of them both for size comparison, and to show you just how weak the Hanmatek LED is. But overall I don't factor the light because as above, I'll likely never use it and it's a novelty bonus, not why I bought this tool. As far as handling I might give a slight edge to Southwire due to the rubber grip. But in general these are such a lightweight easy-to-hold tool, I don't think it's much advantage. But the added sensitivity control of the Hanmatek is excellent! No more 110/12V switch that must be held in the entire time for 12V. Just play around with the "gears" (who thought of calling them gears? lol) to fine tune detection level. See my video for an example. It didn't just find power, it is sensitive enough to know which wire is hot. That is pretty cool in my book. I found this with a $3 coupon so it was only 11 bucks. What a steal! But knowing what I do now, I would have paid as much as any tester out there to get this one instead.

Works well
Basic , works well

Instructions? 🙄
It worked but the instructions are laughable. The print is so tiny you need a heavy duty magnifying glass to read them. Probably because they find the need to include 500 languages (kidding, “only” 8 languages, but still). Need to do better!

Over Sensitive and not good
The device is oversensitive even at lower sensitivity settings. For Both Null and Live it keeps on beeping and of low accuracy. Low quality product. Compared to another brand which I used earlier it is just a waste of money at the price range

Excelente producto
Es muy funcional el producto y muy práctico, ya que tiene varios niveles de ajuste de sensibilidad, lo que facilita demasiado las lecturas de voltaje.

Good product and well designed.
Good products..seems to be pretty sensitive so no need to go over 3 setting on the pen. Tested on many sockets and he was accurate.Well design with a nice led light.Loud beep with bright clear indicator light when working in sunlight.
