da Vinci Watercolor Series 428 Artissimo Kolinsky Red Sable Quill Size 3/0

I have two larger sized da Vinci Artissimo 428 brushes, a number 3 and a number 0. Both are amazing brushes! I often paint plein air with watercolors in a sketchbook that is only 4.5 x 7.5 inches. I have brushes from all the major brands and I love them, but I sometimes struggle with these brushes on smaller sketches. I thought it was my problem so I bought some smaller sized bushes but they don't hold enough water and the points are not as fine as I need. I love my size 0 428 but it is a little too large for this work so I decided to buy the smallest one (3/0). This brush holds a lot of water and the point is amazing. My problem is solved. I can paint large with it and get into the smallest details and it is beautiful to hold. I only need this brush for my plein air sketches.

The largest sizes are beautiful to start with because of their fine tip you can get into small places but these smaller ones are helpful to have on hand as well (think small illustrations, images etc.). I hope to have every size from this brand. I can’t imagine painting without them, I prefer these over round tip brushes.

You load it up with color and paint and paint and paint. From a full page wash to the thinnest leaf veins, the brush is fluid, soft, responsive and has a super sharp tip. It does everything plus mops up all the extra water and paint like a Bounty paper towel. It’s just practically perfect in every way.
