Exactly the Book I Needed
I could not put this book down. It’s funny– packed with the kind of snappy banter that I adore. It’s thoughtful– made me rethink my feelings on romance as a reading genre. And most of all, it’s desperately romantic. Most of the book centers around a contest called The Howl, in which the whole senior class participates in a kind of photo scavenger hunt all around Seattle. It’s a race to win a prize of $5000, which both Rowan and Neil fiercely need. The contest gave the story a straightforward structure and high stakes. But what makes TODAY TONIGHT TOMORROW really magical, though, is the relationship between Rowan and Neil themselves.I’m kind of a sucker for enemies-to-lovers stories anyway, but this one had this perfect mix of wit, awkwardness, self-doubt, vulnerability, and passion. I cannot say this enough: I. Loved. It.A brief note on the views about romance in the story: In the book, Rowan loves romance novels and has written one herself. She muses about the fact that romance as a genre centers women in a way that other media does not, and yet it’s often treated with disdain. She discusses how reading romance also made her feel empowered and comfortable talking about physical intimacy. Her love for romance is really woven into the story, so it doesn’t feel out of place or very preachy, I didn’t think. It made me stop and consider the way women are represented in media. My daughter has participated in a local children’s theater group, and often the majority of the speaking roles are for male characters. I feel like this is something where, once you start noticing it, you kind of can’t stop. Ha.At any rate, I really appreciated this part of TODAY TONIGHT TOMORROW and especially the letter at the end from the author which explained some of her own evolution on those ideas. All in all, fans of THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN ME IS YOU by Lily Anderson really need to check this one out. If you like witty banter and enemies-to-lovers stories, put TODAY TONIGHT TOMORROW at the top of your list!Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, and loved it so much I bought a finished copy.

Really good. Awesome Jewish rep.
Rivals Rowan and Neil Mcnair have always been at each other throats trying to best one another. Yet with graduation around the corner, that battle nearly over. Rowan and Neil have only one more chance to beat each other in the annual competition, Howl. Pros +Jewish rep. You a lot times especially in movies, the only Jewish representation I come across was a cheater mentioning their Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas. That it. Like an afterthought. But I appreciate TdTnTm for actually showing the audience Judaism and how it impacts the characters live. It isn't just an afterthought in this book, it's actually representation. +it was really nice seeing a slow burn romance. Their romantic feelings grew at the perfect speed. I felt like their chemistry was realistic. +Conversations about romance novel and female empowerment. There are more than several of conversations about the importance of romance novels and how they're not trashy and can actually add to the feminist movement. I LOVED reading about Rowan's love for romance novels and her relatable feelings about admitting she wants to be a writer. +Parents and Rowan. I loved Rowan and with her parents and that they were parents were so trusting and there. Usually, YA novels try to write the parents out, so it's a nice change for once. +I love reading the note, texts and emails in between chapters. It was cute and creative.+The idea of Howl and the safety zones are awesome and so creative especially the clues. +I loved how soft and sweet Neil was. Even when Rowan lashes out at him, he didn't go for a low blow, he went for the truth. +I also like the conversations and Rowan struggle with graduating and what the future holds. It was very realistic and made me think back on my high school years. Cons -I felt like the conflict with her friends was solved pretty quickly. They never really talked about it. One moment they were mad at each other, the next they were cool. I don't know I just felt like something was missing. I would have liked to see more of them. Besides the one above, I genuinely can't find any more things I didn't like about the book. The Jewish rep and conversations romance novels really blew me away and I really appreciate. I would definitely like to read more YA books with Jewish rep in them. Other that I definitely recommend this book, especially for graduating high school students and anybody who is Jewish.

I want to play Howl!!! Where was my high school's version of Howl?!?!
My high school graduation was 17 years ago. This book brought me right back to all of those feelings. So strongly that it may as well have been last month. This so perfectly encapsulates the doubt/fear/regret/excitement/pride/joy that I experienced my senior year of high school. Is there a word that means all of those things? If anyone would know, I think it would be Neil McNair. Then there's Rowan Roth. She feels so uncomfortably familiar. She's too competitive for her own good. To the point where it affects her friendships. She is idealistic, but also gets so scared of the what if that she doesn't even try. She clings to things that aren't necessarily making her happy because they are "supposed to" make her happy. They're the things that people do, so this must be what she should do. Again. It was all very uncomfortably familiar. But it was so well done. The swoon factor is off the charts. I definitely cried a few times. And this Howl game that they're playing? Like a scavenger hunt around Seattle on the last day of school for seniors, that goes all night with the potential to go all weekend? Where was this when I was graduating? It sounds like a BLAST!

I'm obsessed, couldn't stop reading it.
I guess I have a new favourite book haha. Everything about it was perfect: The banter, the tension, the time span of just one day, the flashbacks, the scavenger hunt, what made it so adventurous and even more interesting, the obsession with eachother. It's the perfect Academic rivals to lovers book. It made me giggle and laugh out loud a few times and screamed and squealed and cried, what normally rarely happens to me with books. I love how their progress is seen by the way they are more near to eachother each time they sit down on a bench too, that's such an interesting detail. And I love that it shows a messy, real kind of love and not the overly perfect one, that is normally shown in books. But the book is not only about the romance, it's about accepting yourself and what you love, it's about not hiding yourself and open up. It's about friendship too and kinda about regret and realizing, that maybe things are better the way they already are. I love it and definitely gonna reread in the future ❤️ (So happy there's a second book, because I can't get enough of Neil and Rowan)PS: Neil and Rowan kinda gave me Devi and Ben vibes from "Never have I ever", so if you liked the series and them together, you will definitely love this book I think.
