I hang the four chains from the same hook used to hang the birdfeeder. The chains hit the top of the feeder, which pushes them a good distance from the perch of the feeder. The number of birds has dropped a bit, but I suspect things will pick up once they get used to it or become hungry enough. The main benefit for me is I'm no longer having to sweep up seed shells multiple times per week. This has reduce the number of pesky squirrels around my home. I'm also certain that this will help keep the mice and other rodents away since there are no longer shells pilling up on the ground. As far as longevity and rust on the chains go...I can't speak to either as I've only owned the product for about a month. So far I am very pleased.2023/01/23 edit: I knocked a star off today due to rust. I purchased this on October 6th. It arrived on October 22nd. While cleaning my birdfeeder yesterday, I noticed rust on parts of the chains already. It made it 4-months rust free, which is far shorter than a Minnesota winter.

If I knew it was shipping from china I wouldn’t have ordered. But now that I have it hung for about 2weeks Im glad I got it. The plastic part is durable but I’m not sure if the chain will last it’s painted it may rust . And it catches all the wasted seeds some of the birds throw and they throw a lot!

It does a great job of collecting feeder spills due to messy birds. Some of the smaller birds even land in the tray and dine there too.

I hung this below my bird feeder and it has been wonderful. The seeds are not on the ground growing now.

Came in handie for catching there food , just w I would of gotten a little bigger size

I was having lots of trouble with seed falling onto gravel and then going porridge like and smelly, it isn’t easy to clean from gravel. This is perfect, it is wide enough that it catches all dropped seed and the little birds sit in the tray too, particularly the robin. When it rains the holes allow drainage snd the seed dries out again or can be removed daily to avoid waste. Perfect and just the job

This is a great product although the chains get in a tangle and it would be better if they were supplied joined at the top. Delivery was within time but did take longer than I'd hoped. Altogether though I'm happy with the product

Fed up of bird seed getting every where these trays do a great job of catching most of the spillage, they will even take the weight of a pigeon!

Just perfect for what I wanted

I got got of these but afterwards no birds came to the feeders. The fact these are below the feeders scared the birds off.I put down for a return and would have to pay return postage and once they received would not be reimbursed either.A total waste of £44. They are in my bin now.
