Nice
I bought book mending supplies to mend my church hymnals and this was the best product of all. It matches the hymnal just right and makes the ripped binding on the outside look nice and neat.

Experimented and this tape won me over!
I searched for a solution to a problem I was having with a black and white photo lampshade that I was making for a customer. I knew my usual product (which is off white) was not going to achieve the look I truly wanted since the shade was going to have a lot of black area along the edges. I took a big chance on this black book binding tape and I am thrilled with the results. More importantly, my customer was too!

Great way to repair a book, and looks professionally done.
I purchased a hard cover book that was starting to separate, and this tape was just what I needed to repair it. I cut it to length, folded it in half on a piece of wax paper, and was able to stick it in the exact right spot for the binding that I needed to repair. Will definitely use it in the future, it's handy to have a roll around.

Great tape
I used this tape to repair some record album box sets I got at a 2nd hand store. The box corners were damaged and or broken. This tape worked in the repairs.

Good for sheet music maintenance
I bought this to repair sheet music. I sing in a choir and often we will have music that is pretty beat up, or in some cases composed of printed sheets stapled together. This is a durable, flexible tape that works well for repairing worn and torn spines and attaching individual pages together into a bifold format. All things being equal it's probably a little thicker than I needed. As a result it can take some time to fold over without too much spring. That said, better too tough than too flimsy.

I don't think they are priced so differently (but I don't know for sure) but one is definitely better than the other for longevi
This is most assuredly the real deal. There is a big difference between any other tape and bookbinding tape...but the difference is usually only evident over time. This is the second time I have purchased this product and the fixes I made a few years ago with it are still doing very well.. Gaffer's tape looks similar and feels similar but the adhesive is vastly different. I have seen it age badly. The tape stiffens up and sort of crumbles off, adhesive first. If you are wondering what the difference is....I don't think they are priced so differently (but I don't know for sure) but one is definitely better than the other for longevity.

Great for a broken lampshade
I fixed my lampshade that got broken when we shift everything around to have new carpet installed. This tape worked very well!

Did the job
I repaired a brown leather basket handle with this tape.. it did the job well. The tape had a more dull finish than I was expecting. Book binding tape I previously had was more shiny, which I prefer. But it was fine.
