product wasn't so hot, but the customer service was stellar
I will attempt a review of the product, but with a caveat. My review is based more the customer service side of the equation. If I were to rate the net upon arrival at my home, it would be a 1 star. There was a minor tear in the netting, and the ability to get the net back in the pouch escapes me. The netting tear, that is on the company and an error on their side. The inability to fold it back correctly, that is on me, or blame it on genes. If the net is to be used primarily for catch and release and I am unable to use it, then the product, through no fault of its own, is a failure for me. I tend to be the kind of person that looks for the most direct solution, so when I called the Handy Pak Net company for resolution, the customer service that they provided me, tells me that this company stands behind their product 100 percent. So regardless of a good review, a bad review, the company stands behind their product, so that is noteworthy, and it seems for the present, rare. To recap, the tear in the net is unacceptable and problematic, but I also understand how it can happen. People make mistakes. The folding of the net, or rather the inability, that is on me. But should you have issues, the company has your back. That speaks volumes about the product. I will likely practice with it and master it. I may still have to go with another net, by another company, but the price point, the good reviews, the company standing behind their product...that means something, or it should.

One of the best fishing nets out there! - the collapsible/folding fish landing net
The collapsible folding fish land net is a trout fisherman's dream. My husband has had one for over 6 years. Now he isn't the fisherman that goes once in a while, through meadows and fields lol. He fishes hard, most times going 3 - 4 times a week for 4 + months. We have beautiful streams, but there is alder brush, trees haning in the streams, deadheads, etc. If you are a trout fisherman, you realize how difficult it is going through the woods with an unprotected net, that net lasts about one fishing season. However, because of the pouch and the ability to fold the net into the pouch, the results are great. It does take a knack at first to twist the net to fit, but that is because one thinks it will break. This is not the case. This net was not for my husband, I ordered it for one of his friends because he saw what my husband used. He is so pleased with it. the plastic pouch also protects it from the sun. Luck to the fisherman in your family.

Great Product
I wish I would have gone with the milder mesh (the one that's a bit less deep) but overall I'm really happy with this net. It folds right up and sits comfortably on my waist when I'm in the river. It did ALMOST flip out of my hand when I pulled it out of it's carrying case to land a trout. Solid choice and made in America is cool when it's a good product.

Plastic holder belt slots not good for wader belt changes
If you have a thin belt the holder will work. I imagine with some difficulty threading it through though. The back of the holder has two thin slits. I could never get my wader belt buckle through them so I riveted nylon belt loops onto the back to make easier changes between my two waders and regular nylon belt I use for wet wading. Seems like a weak design to me.

Can't get it to fold Up
The quality of the net is good but no matter how hard I try it will not fold up. I watched the video numerous times and tried and tried but no way in hell is this thing folding up. The whole purpose of buying a travel compact net is to be able to travel with it in a small place, this doesn't fit the bill. I'm dissapointed in this purchase.

Great net.
I looked for a compact net for catch and release on trout streams. I really like this net, but it took me over an hour to collapse it. I read instructions and watched videos with no luck. I put it down for a while and when I picked it back up I had it folded quickly.

had one as a kid, now getting back to ...
had one as a kid, now getting back to fishing. This fits in a dry sack that I keep in my trunk with a travel rod and reel set up. Takes up no room and is readily available for netting those soft mouthed trout. The fact they they still make the same net for 50 years tells a lot about the quality and usefulness.

Just could not Collapse this??!!
My hands must be getting weaker? Had a horrible time trying to collapse the net. Even after watching the video. They make it look simple but not for me. Perhaps for younger and stronger hands. Perhaps they should make one for Seniors? I like the concept! Did not work for me!

This net will damage fish
This net is a disgrace - not only is it knotted it has several double knots where it is poorly manufactured. I haven’t seen knotted nets for sale in the UK for twenty years because everyone knows the knots damage the fish. The knotless or silicon ones are fine. But you should take this one off the market immediately.

Best thing since sliced bread
At first your a bit puzzled about how to fold it back in but if you hold it by the handle bolt head up and hold directly across at the far side of the net from the handle push it in slightly then twist like a figure of eight it goes in easy as pie, what a great idea for fishing on the move.
