WinsomeVelda 94550 Antique Walnut Writing Desk

The desk itself is very sturdy and well made. This is about my 9th piece from this brand/company and my only reviews with less than 5 stars. The top came assembled with the drawer mostly done. The only drawbacks I have are:1. The drawer was damaged in shipping. This was an easy fix, however. Some wood glue and a couple extra screws.2. The shelving on the left, I had a hard time assembling. The wooden dowels seemed to be a bit too long for the support slats, to be place on the interior of the shelf. What I did was shorten the 4 dowels for the lower slat, using only that one. And, I also only used the bottom shelf. My CPU fits there like a charm. About 6 inches of space above it for good air circulation too.

I bought this as a desk for my home office. It's nothing fancy, but it is real wood and it looks nice. It is solid and sturdy... the only difficulty was getting the drawer to line up right, but it was probably as much my mistake as anything.

Well the desk arrived today. It is made of real wood. The finish on the desk I received is good. I was hoping I would get lucky and not be one of the others who received a box of broken parts. I wasn't. One of the main supports that hold the draw track and attaches to the desk top is split right through where the screws go. The draw front is broken on both edges in about 5 pieces. I chose to wood glue the support piece and clamp it. The draw they will have to replace. The box that all the hardware came in was open and there were loose screws and dowels etc throughout the bottom of the main box. I am surprisingly only missing one small screw that is used to hold the shelf brackets. Does it make sense for them to have customer service just give free parts away because they don't beef up their packaging? I think i just got someone else's return. It's too bad because it's a nice little desk for under $200.00. I'm not returning, I just hope getting a new draw or draw front is quick and easy.

Easy to assemble. Drawer came damaged but I contacted Winsome directly and they shipped out new part.

I've had this desk for almost a year now. When I received it from amazon, one of the legs on the right side piece had a crack in it. For a temporary fix, I gorilla glued it together and assembled the desk. I used the INCLUDED FORM from the manufacturer, and received my replacement piece about 10 days later.The desk has been pretty durable. It still looks nice even after a year and a move. We use it as a computer desk with a mitx system that can either fit on the shelves or go on the desktop.

This desk looks nice, but was extremely difficult to install without power tools. I do not have an electric drill, and thus have lots of screws sticking out just from not physically being able to screw deeper. I also have blisters and calluses all over my fingers from screwing. From the areas where I was able to screw deeper, there was splintering and cracking in the wood. I would say the pilot holes need major improvement. Additionally the pegs were way too big and split the wood from inserting them in. I’m going to have to borrow a drill from someone to finish it off. However I will say this desk can be found on Wayfair for nearly $60 more expensive! So buying here is definitely the best.

I felt that this desk needed a good review after some bad ones. We received the desk and all the pieces were together and no scratches. It was easy to assemble, my 14 year old daughter and myself did it with no problems. Had it together in about a hour. It's very sturdy and perfect for the space and what I needed it for. I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a great, sturdy table for my home office. It’s made of real wood, not cheap laminated fiberboard. Putting it together was easy, and the size is perfect. I like the bookshelves on the side, and the drawer is great for storing cables and pens.

Overall this desk seems sturdy. It's also has a nice sized top. One piece came broken, and that piece was particle board not solid hardwood. The particle board piece split, and broke off. I managed to repair it with white glue and a clamp. It was a piece for the back of the drawer. So, the entire desk is not solid wood. Still, it seems like a decent desk that will serve its purpose.

I bought this for my 11 yrs. old. It was easy to assemble. Very sturdy. I would buy again.

This product is perfect for what I need it for. Lots of space, easy to assemble and made of real wood. The drawer in front is such a nice touch. Fits in small room spaces but still a great desk to work at. Very happy with this purchase.
