Oh my god
So, we've used a lot of R-lipoic acid for my daughter who has a chromosome disorder. And several times we had a brand start out "great" and then gradually get less and less effective. In some cases maybe due to shipping and weather affecting non-stabilized product, in other cases I think their suppliers were just fraudulent. This stuff... this stuff is DA BOMB. She was on 300 mg of Vitacost's house brand, and while the NSI we started on was great, after they chanaged the label, things gradually got worse but I did not realize the problem was the supplement. Then she started refusing her medicine... and nothing changed. Hm. So we tried her on "Life extension" brand... and nothing changed. Frustrated, I looked at which brands were doing the most research, and saw that this liquid had no citric acid (she doesn't tolerate citrates or citric acid in meds) and tended to require lower dosing....AND HOW. The first day I put 5 drops in some water... got her to drink it... and half an hour later my mostly silent child was chattering at me. TALKING NONSTOP. Not "perfect" but more non-crying sounds from her in an hour than I'd heard from her in the previous month. Sentences. And she started asking me to give her words for things, which she's never, ever done, and we now know she knows all the words to her favorite songs, even if they're not clearly pronounced.Win! It took a bit of trial and error to find the easiest way for her to take it--the supplement is VERY bitter but dilutes well. Water is a hard sell for her in the morning, so I put about 5 drops plus a spoon full of sugar in some high quality cream from a grass fed cow (about 1/4-1/3 cup) and she sucked it right down.Well, last week she had coxsackie virus (hand, foot and mouth) and was forced to stay home from school for the week. We got off schedule and I forgot to give her her supplement a couple of mornings in a row. She was having a full meltdown and having a very hard time finding words, and finally managed to say, "Milk". I asked if she wanted her milk with medicine, and she signed "yes!" emphatically. She drank it fast, asked for more (we just gave her more milk) and spent the rest of the afternoon happy, cheerful and talkative. TALKATIVE. This is a kid with a syndrome which often affects language development so severely that children don't develop language at all. And she's chattering at me and singing along with songs....The way I describe the metabolic effects of her syndrome is this... She is missing a gene that helps encode for CoQ10 precursors. Imagine if you have a factory that makes cars. And all the parts for the cars are on a set order. But one of the suppliers only sends half of what is needed for one part of the plant. This means the factory can either make half the cards, or cars with half the pistons.... but worse, all the OTHER parts keep coming in at the same rate, so they build up and make it very hard for anyone to build any cars at all. We give her CoQ10... but consuming CoQ10 orally is like shipping it to the front door of the factory. It's kind of hit or miss whether it gets to the right department.R-lipoic acid is like an awesome office manager/delivery person/janitor who sees the package on the doorstep and says, "Oh, Jimmy in engines needs those. And what's this mess on the floor? Get that out of here! You, there, work faster! Oh, hey, let's reuse the pistons from that old model." And while it doesn't totally correct the problem for her, it makes everything else work better. It's not a "cure"... just a huge, huge help. And this one? Is an excellent product. We're using 50 mg... when we used to use 300, and we're getting far, far better results.

Nothing happens. Disappointed.
Nothing happens after taking three doses. It doesn't harm me at all(doesn't upset the stomach and it is tasteless).I m disappointed that it doesn't has the same effect as the Pure Encapsulation ALA which eases my whole body neuropathy from fibromyalgia.Pure Encapsulation has side effect e.g. upset Stomach, lose weight way too fast or feeling hyper if takes 100mg X 3 times a day. I m going to look for another R-LA.

This product is absolutely fantastic. I love the fact that this ALA is made with Potassium (as I don't want a Sodium (=salt) based product given already high BP and high Cholesterol). It tastes pungy (I like the taste) and it seems to work really really well. Winner all around.

Absolutely best R-ALA ever made.
The most bioavailable form of RALA. Very effective. It might even be better than intravenous ALA. Expensive but small doses are sufficient.
