Reviewing the format, not the book
I haven't read enough of the book to comment on the content, but the format of the Kindle edition is horrible. There's no table of contents and no way to skip to certain chapters excepts as pure guesswork. If I'd known this, I would have waited for the paper copy. For the format, I give it one star, but I didn't want the number of stars to have too big of an effect.

Required reading
This book is required reading for graduate school in ESOL. It is dry and less interesting than other books. However, it was delivered on time and as a described so the book itself was fine---just boring to read.

It's alright
This was a required text for a TESOL grad class I took. It was informative but so incredibly boring! I also thought the information could have been better organized.

Best book I've read on the teaching of reading
I was assigned this book in grad school, and at that time I thought it was good. It had a nice balance between the theoretical and the practical. I am now teaching reading for the first time outside in the real world and I often return to it to it for support and ideas. It is by far the most useful for an ESL teacher than other books (Nation, Grabe) on this subject.

comprehensive and compelling
This book provided us with a firm foundation for our true beginner course. The research is sound and the coverage complete, filled with practical suggestions. Thank you!

Comprehensive guide for new and experienced teachers
This book was assigned reading in one of my graduate studies courses this semester. It is by far one of the best books I have encountered since beginning the MA TESOL program. It's very comprehensive and I am certain it will be an asset to me throughout my teaching career.
