How loud is this model in decibels?

Near the unit I was getting about 60db. About 10ft away I was getting about 54/55..... This was using a meter from an iPhone.... To loud for my tastes, about as loud as a Window AC unit even on the low setting

Does the drain line only work if you drain it off below the unit, or is the water pumped out such that you can run the line up a foot or two?

The "Standard" unit is a gravity drain, but you can also select the "With Pump" option to get to be able to pump the water up in height.

When I turn it on it reads 30? What does that mean? How do you set humidity level you want it to reach?

That means the room its in is at 30% humidity which is pretty low.I dont think the dehumidifier can make it lower than that.If you want to manually set the level turn auto off...auto is the button with the A on it push it to turn it off.Then use the left arrow key to lower the number and right key to raise it.If your at 30 i dont think you even need a dehumidifier.
