Talk about ruining a wet dream..
It sucks.. only good for one use. I plugged it in to the data external hdd, ran windows updates then rebooted then the external hdd wouldn’t power on, swapped out cables, did some troubleshooting, installed drivers, uninstalled windows updates, reformatted external hdd..still doesn’t work. Did someone check quality control before shipping?!?

Works well, but...
This product will not work on a Mac laptop where an internal DVDROM has been removed, unless some adjustment to the coding of the DVD player is made via the terminal app to allow readability of an external drive. It worked flawlessly on my Mac Mini (the model without the DVD drive), and allowed me to use an external DVD drive, with 13-pin slimline SATA plug, to play movies and music.

Wrong Item
After a few months realizing it... double check what you receive. I ordered a SlimSATA to USB cable and I got a MicroSATA. Double check as you may receive a product that may be completely different.
