Works great after you modify and rebuild it.
There is some sort of weak compression-fitting strategy to secure the metal ring that makes up the net to the plastic handle which secures it to the pole. It's one of those things where a pin is wedged between two grooves to push the metal against the plastic from the inside. The problem is - there's nothing but friction stopping that pin from falling out, leaving you with a handle on your pole and a net floating in your water.I don't have time to mess with replacement on this, so I did what the manufacturer should have done in the first place: removed the friction fit nonsense parts, drilled a hole through the plastic and metal, then secured the whole assembly with a thick bolt and nylock nut.

Not what it seems
l bought this net last year, now its another year of a pool season, l opened up the package and began to use it it as l began to open up my pool. Now l must say l have owned pools my whole life, eight of them in my 45 years, yep l have moved 8 times in my life time. l buy all my pool supplies usually a year in advanced for the upcoming year and rightly so with this leaf skimmer. This particular Pool Skimmer Net/Leaf Rake Catcher is the worst net product l hve ever bought/owned. l justify my judgement based on one thing, the agility of the material used to the nets make up. Gosh its so brittle, too much effort to clean it out, when one flips it to dump the leaves out. well let me say the leaves stay in place. l cant believe my eyes how brittle the net is, l guess if you wanted too just cut it and use it on ones head as a spike for Halloween. To conclude this leaf net may meet some's needs but not mine so buyers just beware that if you want a ridged/stiff net then this is the product for you, now once again l am searching to find the right leaf net for this pool seson.

Keep Looking
The leaf net I received isn’t the same as the one they show in the pictures. There are no cuts in the yellow band that goes around the frame. The lower lip that is supposed to make it easier to to pickup debris from the bottom of the pool is virtually non-existent which makes it pretty much worthless except for scooping leaves off of the top. And, as with other reviewers, the whole thing keeps popping out of the handle. There are 2 screws and nuts that are suppose to hold it all together and they do but just not securely. There is a recess that the nuts fit into which is supposed to hold the nuts in place while you turn the screws with a screwdriver. On mine, they must have used a compound like Loctite so that the screws don’t loosen on their own but now when you try to turn the screws, the nuts rotate in the plastic nut holder making it impossible to tighten or loosen it and no way to hold the nuts because they are recessed. I ended up using zip ties to hold it all together. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does actually hold leaves but only on top of the water.

Sturdy Materials But Comes Apart
First off, the materials which this skimmer is constructed with, are very sturdy and "heavy duty". The metal frame is heavy gauge and very rigid, the netting is high quality. The plastic base which holds the metal frame and connects to the pole also seems very sturdy, however, the metal frame slips out of the base when pulling the skimmer in the water. The 2 screws in the base which clamp the frame, are super snug so I wrapped the ends of the frame with electrical tape. Its holding for now, but, I shouldn't have to modify an new product. I realize I could return it, but decided to keep it with my fix.

Very Sturdy
I bought mine to clean leaves etc. out of a 6x10 goldfish pond that has been neglected. Works like a champ although I have to take small scoopfuls due to a bad back. I was concerned that the net might hurt my liner, but no worries. Very well made. Net is perhaps a bit to fine for my purposes.

Won’t stay assembled
For the first month, this skimmer net worked well. The netting is thicker and more stiff than our other skimmer. It made it more difficult to move in the water, but it could pick up more debris at once. We did like it. It’s been 3 months and now the net is constantly pulling out of the base. It’s the worst. We have it full of leaves and it just pops off and the net and all the leaves, sticks and bugs fall back into the pool. I would love to get this skimmer replaced in the hopes it’s just a defect with this one product, but it’s past the return date.

Holes not as small as I would have liked
I like the pool skimmer and it works great. But I have a screened in pool and was actually looking for a skimmer with smaller holes to pick up the debris that gets through the screen enclosure. It’s very sturdy and made well. Should last several seasons. Which is year round as I live in Florida

Do not buy
The metal poles that insert into the plastic pole mounting literally broke in half and pulled right out. Leaving a full net of debris floating around. I would not recommend this net. It’s too rigid and obviously not well made
