Good book...shame about the CD
While I have nothing but praise for the actual book itself - easy to read score, comprehensive left and right hand fingering, extensive notes and commentary on each piece of music - it is let down by a less than impressive accompanying CD. Each piece is played at a fairly high tempo (the majority are less than two minutes long) which is fine if you just wanted to listen to it rather than play along but it sounds like it is being played by the lady on the front cover using the guitar she is holding. The sound is very thin and almost resembles a child's guitar, although it's more than likely a 19th century replica. If you prefer your guitar music with warmth and tone then I would suggest a different rendition of this collection. If, however, you are more concerned with the written score than the CD performance I doubt you will get a better copy.

Good edition
This is clearly printed and fully fingered. It has extensive notes on the history of these essential studies and also playing guidelines. There are reproductions of the original covers and illustrations. In short, a very useable and attractive edition from Chanterelle.

summer reading
Very nice book with great fingering advice. Beautifully laid out. Lots of information...and 25 pieces.. I certainly reccomend adding this to your collection.

Very Good.
Well worth getting, as well as the music, it gives the background of the fingering as well as providing alternatives.
