USA Standard Gear (ZA W39601) Left Inner Replacement Axle for Jeep TJ Rubicon Dana 44 Differential 4340 Chrome-Moly

This was a very easy install/upgrade. All parts were included and fit perfectly.

Beware this kit comes with cheap Neapco joints. Not spicer which is pictured. This broke 2nd time I went out. Shafts held up fine.

Did not come with studs

Fit perfectly into 1998 Jeep TJ 2.5L with Dana 30 front. Splines meshed perfectly and seems to be very well built. Will update review if anything changes.

While these do appear to be an improvement from my stock axle shafts with 260x joints, I have a few reservations. As others have stated the joints that come with the kit are not spicer joints-which is misleading. The other problem I have is that there are no 4340 stampings anywhere that I can find. Some early shots from reviews seemed to have stampings but these do not. Also- doesn’t come in a USA standard gear box and has no documentation that they are what they say they are. Not reassuring.

Quality was good for the price, these are made in India not USA. Knock down half a star for the u-joints that come with the kit, I upgraded to spicer.

While I found the chromoly shafts to be a good value the u-joints aren’t the best. I would highly recommend putting the supplied u-joints into the garbage or saving them as spares. Then assemble the axles with Spicer u-joints. After a week in Moab and then Colorado they held up fine with no sign of wear or damage. Then on a mild hill climb a week later, both u-joints failed at the same time, snapping both ears of the joints off. This then caused the ears of the shafts to be twisted and unusable. I was running with in manufacture’s recommended tires on a locked dana 30. I will be seeking a warranty replacement. For this reasons I am only recommending a three star rating.
