new series
The Lost City is the start of a new trilogy that takes places in her Trylle universe. Therefore, while it stands strong on its own, fans of her previous series ( The Trylle Trilogy & The Kanin Chronicles) will recognize some names and faces the main character comes across. The Lost City was on par with what I expected from it. Hocking's books tend to have a slow build and the first book always leaves you with mysteries you want to know more of. She also totally set up the YA love triangle trope subtly by giving us the loyal charming sweet boy companion and dangling a tall dark and handsome mystery man before us that leaves us wanting more. {{sigh}} You just know boy next door will eventually get his heart crushed down the line. Anyways I digress, the book does a lot of explanation of the Trylle world, history and social class. While the story progress a little it definitely feels a bit slow. Ulla doesn't learn a whole lot and at the ends set off on her big journey. The Lost City was a good start to a new YA trilogy by Amanda Hocking. With likable characters and mysteries to uncover, I foresee it being a trilogy that I end up wanting to add to my bookshelf. I think fans of her previous Trylle universe series are going to enjoy this one as well.

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
It's been five long years since Hocking released a new book in the Trylle world - and I know I'm not the only troll fan rejoicing! The Lost City is the first book in the Omte Origins trilogy - the FINAL trilogy in this world (sigh)... And Holy Wow, is AH signing off her troll adventures with a BANG! Ulla Tulin is our Omte heroin, parentage unknown, nanny to Finn and Mia's children (yes!!! I said Finn), all-around extraordinary young woman, and (by Fate and with a certain Trylle queen's help) an academia tomb transcriber at the infamous Mimirin - a troll historical hub. Befriending the mysterious Eliana, an otherworldly trollesque girl with memory issues, who may or may not be the lynchpin to Ulla's parentage, but is most definitely the catalyst to discovering why she was orphaned as an infant, will leave readers attempting to finish the puzzle - word to the wise - save your strength. The Omte Origins series is nothing short of 8.0 on the Richter scale with plenty of aftershocks to keep fans breathless for weeks! I am diving into the second book as soon as I click POST on this review. I hope my subscribers and fellow troll lovers let me know how you liked this Omte intro!KrisWhiskey & Wit Book Reviews

BIG Hocking Fan!
I recently received this book and I can’t wait to start reading! I’ve been a massive Amanda Hocking fan for 8 years and have read over a dozen of her books. I would HIGHLY recommend new readers who are interested in this particular novel to start with the Trylle trilogy first. This series (The Omte Origins), along with the Trylle Trilogy, and the Kanin Chronicles are all set in the same universe (though each series is centered around a different protagonist). The Trylle Trilogy was the first that Hocking wrote, so it does the most comprehensive job of introducing the universe, thus why I recommend starting with that series. I’ve found Hocking’s work to be well-paced, with interesting fantastical premises (without being overly complex), and enjoyable characters; definitely geared mostly toward younger teens (though I‘m now in my 20s and still enjoy her book). If that is something that sounds interesting to you, Amanda Hocking‘s books will not disappoint!

Great continuation of the Trylle World
I have read both series of Amanda Hocking in the Trylle world, The Trylle Trilogy and The Kanin Chronicles and loved them. I read all 6 books last summer in about a week. This book's main character is Ulla Tulin who we meet in The Kanin Chronicles when she helps Bryn Aven.In this book Ulla is on a quest to find out who she is. She wants to know who her parents were. What kind of troll is she? Obviously she is Omet but Omet and what? This leads her to the Mimirin where she is an intern. There she works and can hopefully find the answers to her questions. I found Ulla to be a more reliable main character that the ones in the other Trylle world books. Mainly because she is not perfect, and really who is?This book features some of the characters we all now and love from the past books. It has great characters. It left me want to keep reading on to the next book to find out what happens.

Can’t wait for the 2nd book!
This book was highly anticipated, as a huge fan of the trylle and Kanin worlds by Amanda Hocking. It did not disappoint. I think the book could stand alone, but reading the other books from this world definitely makes it better. The main character, Ulla, was introduced in the last book of the Kanin Chronicles, so following her as a main character was a lot of fun. I’ve read some reviews saying that the book started off slow with too much build up. I really enjoyed learning more about Ulla and loved the detail about the mimirin. It definitely gave me some Harry Potter vibes. Amanda Hocking does a great job painting a picture of exactly how everything and everyone would look. The book had just enough mystery, fantasy, and romance. My only regret is reading it too fast so now I have to wait until August for the next book in the series!

Don't read this series if you loved her others.. character death
Loved the first two books. The third ruined this author. Spoiler alert........ This book ruined all of the books in this world.Bryn is killed... Why there're plenty of people you could have sacrificed? Danny, elof, Finn, sumi, elianna, noomi, etc. Why would you kill the main character of one of the trilogies? I love your books I've read them countless times. They are my happy place and you ruined it. How am I supposed to read about Bryn and be happy she survived the kannin war and ended up with ridley when you killed her. I won't be reading any more of your books. This was a poor choice that ruined your other series. I just want to know why?

I recommend if you have enjoyed the previous trilogies.
I honestly dont know how to rate this one. I love Amanda Hocking and I love the world she has built starting with the Trylle series. I loved the Trylle Trilogy and the Kanin Chronicles and gave both of these 5 stars.I was so happy to be returning to this world and Ulla was a character I was really glad to spend more time with. Now my problem with The Lost City was pacing, I felt like not alot happened plot wise. We got to spend time with the characters and they were quite fleshed out and I really did enjoy them. Now maybe this is my problem as the previous 2 trilogies I read in a bind up although I still felt that plot wise they kept you constantly wanting to read more.I will be carrying on as like i said I love the world and I want to find out what happens next. Hopefully this was just a book of slow buildup and all the plot action starts in the next one.I still would recommend this book if you have enjoyed the previous trilogies. I just can't rate this high on its own. Perhaps if the pay off is great in the next book I will up my rating.

Best of Troll saga.
I gave 5 stars. One for each below1. Came before stipulated time. Also intact.2. Best of all Troll saga. Reminds one of dark fantasy in a good way.3. The minor characters are also highlighted and the reality is merged with legends.4. The suspense is gripping. Each page unfolds new possibilities.5. The suspense hooks us to read and wait for the 2nd and 3rd
