Roscoe Riley Rules #7: Never Race a Runaway Pumpkin Paperback – August 25, 2009

My husband and I love the Roscoe Riley series for our son who'll be entering the 3rd grade next school year. The books are so entertaining that he actually doesn't complain when we ask him to read. He's 8 years old and finds the books fun but also a bit challenging with some of the vocabulary. That works great for us because the reading is not so hard that it's frustrating for him, but not so easy that he's bored. Perfection!

Roscoe Riley is a fun kid who just can't keep from getting in trouble! I got this book on my Kindle to read with my five year old granddaughter. She loved it! Adults will cringe as Roscoe gets in one scrape after another. My granddaughter loved the story - it caught her two year old brother's attention too. Each chapter could be read independently -- Roscoe's escapades can be read one at a time. But as my granddaughter moved to a longer attention span and reading herself, the Roscoe Riley stories were great chapter books for her to read on her own. Roscoe always realizes that his impulsiveness was a mistake; it is not glorified.

We absolutely love Roscoe Riley books at our house. We read the first one to our grandchildren and enjoyed it so much that we went out and bought the next one as soon as we finished. Now we have all 7. Our 8 year old grand-daughter reads them over and over to herself and our 5 year old grand-son just read one out loud to us all!Something you should know before you get started... Roscoe Riley will make you laugh and you"ll learn some important stuff too.Thanks Katherine Applegate! Write faster!

My son loves this series. It is a great for those beginning to read chapter books. Chapters are short and he enjoys the sense of accomplishment when he finishes. We have enjoyed reading several in the series and have begun to recognize the similar structure the author uses with each book which is helping my son develop his writing as well.Storyline begins with Roscoe in time-out, and then the bulk of the story explaining how he got there.i like the hidden lesson within the story. My son enjoys reading them and I would recommend them.

Oh my it can't be over. My boys love these books they are the reason they now love reading! I bought these off of kindleOn a fluke that turned into a turning point in my boys education.my boys are 7 years old (yes twin are amazing) and just got into reading and neither if them could stop at each chapter they would just beg me to go on. Their interest in these books got them interested in reading chapter books and their teacher us super proud! Thank you Katherine Applegate!

The Roscoe Riley books are the first my 8 year old grandson has volunteered to read all by himself. I bought the first 3 as a Valentine's Day gift, and he has begged for the rest! At the end of the series, he was upset that no more had been written.The books are easily read with short chapters and great illustrations!Bravo to the author for writing a series that boys WANT to read!

My 7 year old loves these books (there are quite a few of them). They are well written and funny, even I enjoy reading them.

My son (age 7) liked all the Roscoe Riley books (7 in all). They were great for his reading level and I'm glad to see a quality series for boys his age. He used to argue about HAVING to read but with these books he never did. Even heard him laugh out loud at times! Great series.

Fantastic humour, a great book for kids (5-10 years old) or to read as a family

Our son has read all the books in this series thus far. He says that this is the best title to date.

This was a great series to read to a class. The students thoroughly enjoy the humour in it. They can relate to a lot of the story lines.
