Music That Inspired Buena Vista Social Club / Various

While surfing the pages of Amazon a while back, I came across this 2CD set "Music That Inspired Buena Vista Social Club" and was intrigued. As it was selling for just a couple of bucks from a Marketplace vendor, I ordered it. For the price and for historical reasons it was a good purchase -- as an album it's only OK. For those who love the crisp, full bodied sound of the Buena Vista Social Club disc and its numerous spinoffs, you will be disappointed here. The reason is all of this music was originally recorded in the 1940s or 50s, and there is no stereo sound to be found. What is fun about this collection is hearing a dozen tracks by various Buena Vista luminaries -- Ruben Gonzalez, Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo and Omara Portuondo -- nearly fifty years before they were "rediscovered" by Ry Cooder. The other three-quarters of this two-fer features a variety of Cuban greats, including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Perez Prado and even Desi Arnaz, in vintage performances. If you've run through all the Buena Vista permutations as I have and your thirst for this music still isn't quenched, then enjoy another Buena Vista. Just remember this view, or should I say sound, isn't quite as clear.

Buena Vista....those were the days... a great selection of musical talent.....

disc one and two have the same titles and musicians but different songs. Which songs go with which disc? I bought it used so maybe caveat emptor

「ブエナビスタ」で検索して、ここに辿りついた方は要注意。全然違いますよ。例えて言うなら、「宇多田ヒカル」を聞いて好きになり、J-POPで検索したら「中尾ミエ（かわいいベイビー）」に辿りついたくらい別もの（古臭い）です。（逆に、古いのを求めている人になら、お勧めです）★２付けたのは、資料としての価値。キューバ音楽を研究したいのでなければお金の無駄です。（私は研究しているので）収録曲こそ違えど紙資料としての情報量、聞いた感じの雰囲気は別のＣＤ（Cafe Cuba）と全く同じですので、そこの私のレビューを参照して下さい。 Cafe Cuba 後は、別の方の解説どおりで、本当に紛らわしいタイトルです。商品説明に「オリジナル・サウンド・トラックではございません。」とありますが、それどころか、ブエナビスタではありません。昔々の音源のようで、若かりし頃のブエナビスタのメンバーが参加している曲もあるようです。ちなみに、ジャケット以外の資料（歌詞、解説等）はありません。（詳しくは上記「Cafe Cuba」のレビューを参照下さい）これでよくこんなタイトルに出来たもんだと思います。「CAFE CUBA2」でいいんじゃないかと思いますよ。 Cafe Cuba

紛らわしいアルバムタイトルとジャケットです．正式タイトルは「ブエナビスタソシアルクラブを生み出した音楽たち」で，ブエナビスタソシアルクラブの近年のものではありません．しかし彼らや同年代のスターたちによる1940年代，50年代のキューバの名演奏が２枚のCDに５０曲収められ，編集意図に同意すれば良いコレクションに違いありません．オマーラやセリアの若い声が歌姫達の人生を想像させます．日本語解説はありません．同じシリーズのアルバムがいくつかあり，重複している曲もあります． Cafe CubaCafe Cuba

Ya lo decían en otros comentarios, es la música que INSPIRÓ el trabajo de Buena Vista Social Club y eso no sería problema alguno, contiene artistas interesantes y canciones que están más que bien, pero..... La calidad del sonido deja mucho que desear y es una pena, cansa escucar música de calidad tan plana así que queda como curiosidad que no creo que vaya a escuchar con frecuencia, una lastima.

Me ha defraudado mucho.No es un disco de Buena Vista Social Clip. Es inspirado en la música de ellos. Lo pone en la carátula si te fijas mucho.En el reverso pone el nombre de los cantantes pero no cantan ellos. Son versiones de de canciones de ellos cantadas por otros cantantes.Además no son de mucha calidad las grabaciones. Una auténtica pena.

ist aber nicht drin. Eine Mogelpackung übelster Sorte, denn die Qualität dieser No-Name-Interpreten reicht längst nicht an die Gruppe heran, deren Name hier missbraucht wird. Hier hätte man wirklich das Kleingedruckte lesen müssen um zu erkennen, dass diese CD eben nicht Songs von Buena Vista enthält. Dass Amazon so etwas unter dem Titel Buena Vista verkauft ist ein starkes Stück.
