Digitally re-mastered and expanded 40th Anniversary edition of this album from the Australian rockers fronted by Ross Wilson. Re-mastered from the original tapes by legendary mastering engineer Don Bartley, it sounds incredible. Ross Hannaford's guitar both grinds and shimmers. Gary Young's drums simultaneously swing and shuffle. Wayne Duncan's bass sounds fat in the best possible way. Wilson's vocals and guitar parts are delivered with such self-assuredness that it's hard to believe that this was a performance by a 23 year old from Melbourne, Australia. It's hard to underestimate the influence these youngsters had on Australian music. In addition to the original tracks re-mastered, the Daddy Who? 40th Anniversary Edition comes with four bonus tracks which were included on the Reprise Records international pressing. The artwork comes with all of the images from the original LP cover as designed by Ross Hannaford and Ian McCausland along with new liner notes by Ross Wilson, plus some vintage images from the Daddy Cool vault.

Excellent recording of old time style rock n' roll for the seventies. Great party or drivin' tunes for us boomers.

Best Australian Album ever!
Some Aussie friends bought this album with them from Melbourne and it was a riot, we played it all the time back in the early '70's ... I visited Melbourne a few years ago and managed to find the original in a record shop - yeah! It's really great music, not specifically Australian but simply a great band from that time ... if you like the music from the American Grease musical then you'll love this album!

Excellent 1970's Release From A Little Known Australian Band
This album was released in the early 1970's by an Australian band called Daddy Cool. It is a combination of original material combined with covers of 1950's and early 1960's rock and de-wop.Great album. It went multiple gold in Australia but never really caught on outside Australia. Well worth checking out though.

They put the ROLL in rock'n'roll
The years 1970 to 1972 were some of the best years for rock ever. The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, the Who, Joni Mitchell, the Band, Neil Young and many, many others all did some of their best work during this period. So it would be tough for a group like Daddy Cool to get the recognition they deserved, considering the competition. But their debut release, Daddy Who? was sorely appreciated by me and all the hip kids that I hung out with our final year of high school. This record is a feel-good, good timey throwback to the doo-wop era, of course (which was already nostalgia in 1971) but in fact it is so much more. It seemed aimed directly at the long-haired, sensitive, vegetable-matter consuming sixteen and seventeen year olds of the era, speaking directly to what we were going through at the time. The lyrics of "Come Back Again" are priceless: "I'm moppin' around, the streets late at night, I'm worried because you ain't treating me right, come back again, I'm just crazy 'bout you babe" or "I went to the dance, but I went all alone. I watched you dance and then I followed you home".... who hasn't done EXACTLY THAT growing up! Tracks like "Eagle Rock", "Come Back Again" and "Day Cool" were all on heavy radio rotation in Montreal in 1971 but the record, unfortunately, was difficult to find. Only one person that I knew had it, and I borrowed it repeatedly. The band was surprisingly good, the music simple yet melodic and bore repeatedly listenings easily. Daddy Cool knew how to put the roll in rock'n'roll. Songs like "Gold Cadillac" and "Blind Date" were and are sublime, ridiculous and entertaining. I spent the better part of three decades trying to track the original record down. And now here it is, the 40th Anniversary Edition (with bonus tracks). This aging hippie will die happy. Give Daddy Cool a spin... it's sure to put a smile on your face.
