You can't be neutral even if you try.
Howard Zinn, and this book in particular, does not need my review. He doesn't need me to say "life changing", "thought provoking" or any other meaningless buzz-words. He doesn't need anything from any of us, except the agreement that we will try to be better as human beings. Whether you agree with his politics or not, read this book and think about why you are the way you are.

An inspirational tale of the life of a man of conscience
I read this book to follow up a reference and expected to do just that but ended up reading it from cover to cover.Howard Zinn has lived through interesting times and his coverage of the US college campus student demonstrations against injustice makes gripping reading and the response by the college authorities is deeply disturbing. Well worth reading and will inevitably give you food for thought for some considerable time.

Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train
Through his personal experience of fighting for social justice, Zinn manages to convey why we should remain optimistic even in the worst of times. I found the book both moving and inspiring.

Racism, militarism and justice from the humanist side
If you've read some of Professor's Zinn work, this memoir is essential reading to get behind his thinking and philosophy. His prose is easily comprehensible, incisive and occasionally humorous. The recounting of events offer insight of an intrepid man, armed only with a profound sense of justice, challenges constantly the almighty powerful establishments and corporations. The author also casts doubt as to why the US entered the Second World War and why the A-bombs were dropped, he suggests different possibilities, with convincing arguments. The conclusion is up to us. My regret is that there are no photos of the numerous characters described in the book, both supporters and opponents. This is a brief autobiography, but a very revealing and a humanist one.

One the best books i ever read!
What can i say about the gift of that H. Zinn does when he shares his life story with us readers? It is important to have an opinion and share it with other. Thats the message within this book. At the same time it an adventure travelling through time. I read this book in only 3 days.I only hope that more people reads his books!

As a Boomer I watched (mostly from a safe distance) ...
As a Boomer I watched (mostly from a safe distance) as the train of change as moved through the United States in the 60's. I have watched with sadness as the train has been derailed by politics, religion, and activist fatigue. Reading Howard Zinn's remarkable story and getting a dose of his infectious enthusiasm for life and honest dialogue has helped me reconnect with the core issues of dignity and real community. This book is a primer for anyone who seeks positive social change, and an an antidote for malaise for older readers.

Howard Zinn Autobiography
This is a powerful story about an activist, humanist, professor and author who has a long history of telling the raw truth about our collective US history. In his widely acclaimed book, "The People's History of the United States", Zinn takes us through the real tale of Christopher Columbus through the early 21st century political chicanery. You may not agree with Zinn's every opinion but will recognize that he speaks with both authority and integrity. I highly recommend this book.

Re-writing American history
While telling unhappy truths about American history Zinn gives us hope that change is possible. Young people should read this to what is possible and old people should read this book to find hope and inspiration.
