Cake Mania: Main Street

I love the Cake Mania series and was happy to hear that another Cake Mania game was coming out on the Nintendo DS platform. I admit that I was a little leary in buying this at first because I did not like Cake Mania 3. But was pleased to find out that Cake Mania Main Street was much better than I expected. There are still only 2 ovens and 2 frosting machines, but the buttons on the ovens and frosting machines are larger and less chance of clicking on an incorrect button. In fact, if you accidentally click the wrong button, you can quickly cancel it out before Jill gets to it. I'm still able to complete my orders in a timely fashion and managed to make SuperStar goal status in Jill's bakery. There are also 3 other shops you run in the game, which is Jill's husband, Jack run Jack's Burger Barn, Risha's Flower Shop and Tiny's Sushi Bar. They all generally run on the same concept as Jill's bakery but is a tad more challenging as you have to memorize recipes for the shops of Jack and Tiny. Thank God there aren't any mini-games in this game as there was in Cake Mania 3. Another new concept in the game is called the Rush Hour or something to that effect, but for a short period of time, you get to complete your orders within a half second.You will see some of the same characters that have been in Cake Mania like Baby Cupid, the Cat Lady and the Vampire. Baby Cupid seems more calmer and less annoyed and you can keep him waiting a while before he throws a fit. But there are new characters as well like the Pirate, who is always short tempered and a wanna-be Superman.I give this game 5 stars as it's more fun than Cake Mania 3 (which I still haven't completed) but as fun as Cake Mania 2 (which I did complete all 4 story lines).Great game!

Cake Mania in general is one of my favorite "fun" games to play on DS. I liked timed games-if you hate timed games this is not for you-as you must do things in certain orders, in a certain time limit, while keeping customers happy, picking up the money-while you still need to be baking & making say coffee or turning on a TV etc.. .to keep customers from getting upset & leaving. You have goals each round & you unlock items to make the bakery easier to use & most customer friendly. I'm the only one in the family who likes this-everyone else hates it because it's timed. I've played other games like Wedding Dash, Sushi etc... and this is still the best in design, images & easy of clicking or dragging. Love it !

I love all the Cake Mania games, so I was happy to see this game. At first, I thought it was a great idea to include 4 games in one: cakes, flowers, sushi and burgers. But then I started playing it....The cake game was pretty easy to beat. The flower game seems to be impossible to beat. The sushi and burger games were really similar and were lacking when compared with other similar games. I liked that you could use the profits from all the four games to rebuild the downtown - that was a cute storyline. But, unfortunately, since I got stuck on the flower game and hated the sushi and burger games, I wasn't able to get the main street fixed up. I would stick with the first three Cake Mania games, and then try out  Florist Shop , Sushi Go Round  and  Burger Island . Florist Shop was acceptable and I LOVED Sushi Go-Round and Burger Island.

This edition of the popular series lets you play in different shops involving burgers, and flowers. Very entertaining if you enjoy the series.

I was happy to find there are several different 'stores' in this game other than cake - flowers, burgers, etc. I actually prefer some of the other games (stores) over the cake. Sometimes its just plain frustrating because the game does not seem to respond quickly enough but all in all, a good, easy, give you something to do, sort of game.

No complaints here - games are fun and challenging - like how they mixed it up with the Burger Barn. Had me hooked from the moment it arrived. Super fun game - hope they have a new one soon.

I played this game on my computer and enjoyed it alot. I thought the same would be for the DS but it was hard to go as fast as you need to using the stylus. Graphics were good but I became frustrated with the lack of response using the stylus.

- I am a 31 year old female.This sounded like fun when I read the reviews, but I soon realized once I started playing that this style of game is just not for me. I never played the computer version, so maybe fans of that will enjoy this game as well, but I found the frantic game play to be more frustrating than fun. I tried the burger store, and that was even more awful than filling cake orders.

Ce jeu est bien mais il est en anglais. Les images, le dessin, le graphique de ce jeu sont très bien aussi.
