If You Can't Bear Hug, Air Hug: A Book Inspired by Social Distancing Paperback – May 23, 2020

*EDIT: I hated writing a negative review without the chance of the seller being informed of a problem with a product, but Amazon’s platform left me no other recourse. Soon after the review, the seller/author reached out to me with profuse apologies for the problem that she’d been totally unaware of (Amazon printed her books and assembled them, as well as shipped them out.) She offered to make it right, and went above and beyond in doing so. She was very friendly and pleasant to work with and I could tell she was so upset this problem occurred. I, and my grandchildren, now have new (perfect) copies of the book and I couldn’t be more pleased. It is a delightful book so appropriate for these times and can’t wait for my grandchildren to enjoy this book! Thank you, Katie!*Original review that has been corrected: I had this book sent to my grandchildren who were just starting Day Care. When my daughter received it and sat down to read it to them, they discovered missing papes, double printed pages and the cover of the book was in the middle. She works full time from home, has two small children and has opted not to return it (does not live near a UPS store, does not want to drive to or go into Kohl's). There's no where under my order history to give the seller feedback to try and make this right. I can't physically return the book myself since I had it shipped to another state. This looked like such a good idea for a book, and now I'm really disappointed that I have no recourse to remedy this. I'm sorry that my grandchildren were disappointed as well.

These rhyming animals have a great message.The bears have smiling snouts, fuzzy bellies out, we stretch our arms outside.The owls sing together, talons tapping, wings tapping, we "Hoo, Hoo, Hoo" in rhythm.How do other animals social distance and give lovable hugs.You get to listen/read to find out!!! Yipee!!

I love how the author created a positive message for children who are too young to understand the realities of a pandemic. For this reader the examples used not only create an awareness of the variety found in the animal kingdom, but also illustrate the universality of the notion of connection.

I will definitely use this with my preschool class. I only wish the pictures were more vibrant instead of muted tones. I think it would be more engaging for little ones. The paper also seems cheap.

Adorable book about alternative ways to great/say I love you. There is a different set of animals on each page with a way to say hello. This is a great way to introduce social distancing! Thank you!

Such a timely book and very well done. Full of love. An uplifting book of rhymes for children that explores the creative ways animals might show affection while socially distancing and delivers a reassuring message of love and resilience. The illustrations are beautiful and very sweet, the design is cute and fits the theme of the book very well. The rhymes flow well. The author uses such a skillful approach to help kids understand a difficult topic. Highly recommend!

This book is popular in my house with my girls, in my class and in my school. A must have during these pandemic times.

Cute book about the different ways animals show affection. I bought it with 2 other books about germs and the classroom being a home to teach concepts surrounding the changes to Kindergarten due to Covid 19. My class enjoyed it but nothing to write home about.

My students loved this book, I loved the message and it is one of our new favourites. Very easy to ready, and suitable for young students!
