A Great History
I love Lucy Worsley's work and this was a fun romp of Tudor England. To see the foods and to find the history of some of the feasts my family celebrates during the holidays was fun and informative.

For Lovers Of Christmas
Short but delightful story of Christmas as celebrated during the time of Henry VIII in England. Some things remain from those days, but many things have changed in the way we celebrate Christmas.

Charming and informative look at Christmas past
I learned so much from this program, which was well produced and helped illuminate what life was like in Tudor England. It was also very fun and festive and a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. Lucy Worsley is just delightful.

A Sumptuous Feast for the Eyes!
Lucy Worsley has made many fascinating documentaries of England's past, many have appeared on PBS and local TVO, she is a historian and has a position with England' National Trust. Worsley recreates how Christmas was celebrated during the age of Henry VIII, eating, drinking and dancing. Food historian Annie Gray assists her to prepare 2 royal feasts during Henry's reign. Dressed as Henry she doesn't enjoy boar's head particularly the snout. Later she assists in the kitchens of Hampton Court to make mince pie, sugar chess men and Christmas cake. Henry demanded his followers present him with presents, usually money and Worsley is given a boar spear presented by one of Henry's many wives. There is ample singing even of written by Henry. She is visited by people dressed up and masked who come to partake of some drink, this custom is still celebrated down east in Newfoundland. She dances at one of the parties and enjoys a wonderful buffet. Great and interesting insight into some of Christmas traditions.
