Early days but its more than promising
Ok so after buying the swift and having issues with the eye relief I returned that and bought the Prowl instead . This has good eye relief and makes the difference between a soft image to a sharp image . So this is going to be a long term review and will be added to as time goes by . So in the box comes everything you need to start up inc a hard storage case that's a good quality item as is the charge lead and the head mount it also comes with a helmet mount for airport and a lens cover . Once unpacked charged and fitted the eye relief was set and provided a clear sharp image that git better as I played around with the settings, tmThe nightvwas clear with no moon and was dark . The unit works well with no IR illumination switched on which on a dark night was ok but with cloud cover it's pretty good this gets better with the IR illumination switched on and has settings from 1 to 5 and a 3x zoom it also has a back-light screen function that makes the image brighter to the eye . So taking the dog for a walk into the moors with no torch the unit worked well and enabled me to see the dog and surrounding area with ease and I can see this being useful for night observation of wildlife or shooting. I intend to use it for night fishing as I have lost some big carp at the net by them spooking when they see the head torch so this may be a worthwhile investment and I will add more info and video as the fishing season gets underway . The one issue I had was walking around it sometimes was a little uneven as the depth perception is lost but I have a feeling that two units may solve this and Nightfox sell a bar that enables two units to be mounted together although this would be an expensive setup to solve the dept perception issue so I'm undecided to fork out the extra as yet and I'll keep you updated on this . The aftersales from Nightfox is simply awsome and even answered emails on Christmas day I've never had that kind of service and it's a measure that company's should mark themselves by . All in all upto now its a good little unit that's well made well presented and packaged is easy to use and may well be able to help in landing more fish ,time will tell and I'll report more as its used so check back for more

Good value for the features
Works really well. No disorientation if you move around your environment slowly and take them off every 20 mins for a bit, or whenever they fatigue your neck. I bought the one without the camera to record video, because the camera etc takes up a lot of the weight, so it makes them very light and you won't get neck cramps, if adjusted to fit your head properly with the straps. That was just a personal choice though. Using the neck strap as well as the head mount straps, means you can take them off and they can stay around your neck, or you can pivot them upwards via the rotating hinge to rest on the top of your head temporarily. The active IR has 2 bands, one of them is just visible in darkness when looking in that direction with a line of sight, the other is essentially invisible to the human eye. And this version also has the wider viewing angle of the latest model. So feature-wise vs price vs weight, this is very good for the price.

Significant design fault.
I recently purchased the Nightfox Swift 2 night vision goggles and was very surprised and disappointed to find that the digital screen (viewfinder) has no dioptre adjustment. This virtually renders the goggles useless to anyone that has difficulties focusing on close objects. Nightfox have included a focus wheel but this is limited and will only allow the user to focus the screen to a point which is still out of focus however hard you try. This is where a dioptre adjustment is crucial. It allows for fine-tuning for different eyesight’s. I am sure I do not need to explain what a dioptre does as most people have probably come across one on any digital equipment that has a digital/ optical screen. For example: Digital cameras, binoculars the list could go on. It seems however that the Nightfox research and development team had not come across the dioptre concept as it is not included as a feature on their goggles. When I contacted Nightfox to bring this to their attention. Their answer was to return the goggles using Amazons 30 day returns policy. I wonder just how many returns of these goggles they’ve had. Oddly enough, the newly released Nightfox Prowl does include a dioptre adjustment. I wonder why that is? I do think that Nightfox should be obliged to highlight this problem in their description of the Swift 2 and I presume its predecessor the Swift. Instead of just relying on customers sending them back which is a waste of everyone’s time and effort. The sad thing about all this, is that the goggles themselves are actually very good. If you hold them away from your eyes, you see how clear the picture would be. But that defeats the purpose of why I bought them, to wear on my head as advertised. It is no good having goggles designed to wear against your face, when you have to hold them at a distance, and for the screen to light up your face. Not very incognito at all.

Amazing Only 1 regret
I bought these and after a few night time hikes I have to say my only regret is not buying the pro version for the recording feature. It takes some getting used to as I found depth perception becomes worse but even at that if you just take things slow and pay attention everything is fine. Furthermore, if you encounter the fps glitch where the device locks up when you enter the menu just- reset the device using a pin and then factory reset the device in the menu. This worked for me and now it works perfectly.

Oh Nightfox, you really dropped the ball
So past reviews have said about firmware freezing. Seems like they weren't one offs. It really is as simple as: Press the menu button, and theres no way back without it freezing. So you're forced to press the reset button using a pin. Yeh try doing that in the dark. Don't have a pin? Then your battery will just drain away all night. Seriously Nightfox, how did this get past your testing team? This isn't just a hurdle, it's a full blown dead end, and I thought Microsoft had design flaws. This takes the cake, the tin and bakery. I don't care if these goggles can see through steel, lead or women's lingerie - the product is a shambles and I didn't think twice or longer than a nanosecond about a refund. And while I'm writing this I might aswell mention that the rubber cover to protect the usb socket is such a flappy mess, chewing gum would be a better alternative. Oh, they also see in the dark.

A nice night vision goggles
It's a nice night vision, able to see at night but the infrared lights are kind of way too bright even at the lowest which makes it hard to see close distance objects. I'm not sure if it's just the one I received. It's comfortable to use and the rubber padding that covers the eyes makes a lot easier to wear and less strain. In terms of functionality, there are only two options b&w and then green. Green seems to be more useful than b&w as it helps in reducing the brightness from the infrared a little but still it's hard at times to navigate through. Over built is nice and hoping it will last.

Good Value NVG Goggles — But Not True ‘Binoculars’ and Could Be Improved
Overall, I’m very pleased with the Nightfox Swift 2 NVG goggles. I wanted an inexpensive night-vision device with a replaceable battery, and the two-year warranty is excellent. Product support has also been very responsive. One thing that should be clarified on the product page: this is not a true binocular device. It uses a single lens and sensor that projects an image onto an internal screen, which both eyes view simultaneously. In optical terms, this is closer to a bi-ocular display than a binocular. Both eyes see the same image, so you do not get true stereoscopic depth perception. Some reviewers note that IR illumination creates shadows that aid depth perception. That’s partly true, and you also get some depth cues when moving your head, but it’s still not the same as true binocular vision. Another point that isn’t clearly explained in the product literature is the vision requirement. The screen is only a few inches from your eyes. If you’re young or naturally near-sighted, you’ll probably see the display clearly. But if you’re farsighted or need reading glasses (have presbyopia), you may need corrective lenses to focus on the screen. I’m 80 and need about +2.5 diopters for reading. When I tried my wife’s +2.0 reading glasses under the eye shield, the image became much sharper. I have a pair of +2.5 Eyekepper reading glasses on order that measure about 138 mm wide and 50 mm tall, which appear small enough to fit inside the eye shield. Anyone who normally uses reading glasses should keep this in mind when buying a device with a display this close to the eyes. Nightfox might consider offering an optional face shield or insert designed to accommodate reading glasses or corrective lenses, since many users of night-vision devices are older and may need close-focus correction to view the screen clearly. The Swift 2 comes with a good headband and shoulder strap. However, the eyelets used to attach the shoulder strap could be redesigned. The bend angle makes it very difficult to thread the strap through. Without a very thin pair of strong forceps, it would have been quite frustrating. Some reviewers also mention that the goggles bounce on the hinge pin that connects them to the headband and swing away from your face when you look down. That is true, but there is an easy workaround. If you place the shoulder strap around your neck and pull both strap ends together behind your neck, you can clip them together (I used a large binder clip). This pulls the goggles firmly against your face and eliminates both problems. Nightfox could probably incorporate a simple strap tension feature to accomplish the same thing. One focusing tip: at 1× magnification, it can be difficult to judge the best focus. I found it helpful to tap the Zoom button to switch briefly to 3×, adjust focus there, and then switch back to 1×. Finally, the carrying case could also be improved. With the headband attached to the goggles, the case cannot be closed, so the headband must be removed. The hinge mounting bracket could also be removed, but repeatedly removing and reinstalling the small knurled screw that bolts it to the goggles doesn’t seem like a good long-term solution. I chose to leave the bracket attached, but that means the case has to be forced slightly to close around it. A slightly taller case with a designated place to store the headband in the lid netting—without pressing the power button—would solve this problem nicely. Overall, despite these minor issues, I’m very happy with the Swift 2 and think it offers excellent value for the price.

Good stuff.
I still want to keep 5 stars, as these goggles are really cool with lots of night modes and truly show good quality. BUT 1 thing that must be improved - the size of the screen. It should be bigger and these goggles are worth the money for 100%.
