Suzuki Cello School vol.9, Cello w/Piano Accompaniment Volu (Suzuki Method Core Materials)

This book is one of the traditional Suzuki school teaching books. This volume is devoted solely to the Haydn C Maj Cello Concerto, Hob. VII b/1. The book includes the piano accompaniment and a removable solo part. Both the piano and the cello parts are quite readable. I will admit to not having mastered the piece (yet) but the fingering, articulation and bowing suggested seem to work very well for me.This concerto was presumed lost until its rediscovery in 1961. Some questioned its legitimacy when it was discovered, but now most experts believe it to be Haydn's work.There are small teaching pieces placed before the concerto, that a Suzuki student or teacher will recognize as coming from earlier Suzuki pedagogy. These familiar pieces are set in registers of the cello that the concerto demands. Their use will be of great help to the student. They are well worth playing carefully before tackling the concerto itself.I recommend engaging a qualified Suzuki teacher in the use of any of the Suzuki teaching books.

The Haydn suite is probably my new favorite cello piece to play.

I decided to roll the dice since some of the reviews were fine and some said the cello part was not included. I found that hard to believe - the core component of the item is the Cello Part! However, upon receiving the book, I was disappointed to find that in fact, there was NO CELLO PART. The outside cover says Cello Part and Piano Accompaniment, but inside is just the Piano Accompaniment. DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM. It also looked used and worn.
