Folding Dutch Oven Lid Stand, 7-7/8", Black

I now have both the ForHauz and the Lodge Dutch Oven Lid Stands. They look almost identical and are functionally the same, though this one seems to be a tiny bit smaller and thinner. It seems to be up to the challenge of holding lids just fine (not much weight there), but also is quite capable of holding my deep No. 12 Lodge Camp Oven including content. Four stars because it is slightly smaller and lighter than the competitor, but it is also considerably less expensive. If you are not expecting it to hold 25 or more pounds, I am sure you will be well served with this one.

I liked this so much I bought more. I haven’t used them to support a pot over coals, but it’s in their future. Folds nearly flat and makes a nice clean spot to set lids or pots off the coals. The next one that arrives is getting paired with a combo cooker that doesn’t have legs for use in the campfire. I tried to use it as a lid lifter, but it’s just not going to work well for that and I have plenty of lifters anyway.

I am new to camping and cooking out over a campfire. We tried the dutch oven with the lid stand and like that this tool offers not only a clean place to leave your lid but also a small lift for cooking over hot coals. Although you can cook without it, I like the versatility it offers if I need it. It is very portable since it folds almost flat and it is very durable since is is made of cast iron or some similar metal.

This stand/lid lifter made using the DO on our last camping trip so much easier. Works much better than channel locks ever did and it’s great to keep the kid out of the dirt.

Have to turn it upside-down to rest my 8" dutch oven lid on it - it's made for a 10-12" lid, but it's relatively light and sturdy. A good value.

Does what it should, but the slick finish results in the lid sliding around far too easily if the stand is not almost perfectly level.This is not an ideal situation when the lid is placed on the stand while loaded with hot coals.Will be looking into some way to provide a bit more "traction" on the resting surfaces to attempt to address this potentially hazardous situation.

Now I am not look for a precarious place to balance the lid when I remove it while cooking. Small enough to fit into the chuck box and is a welcome addition! Always a bargain price on Amazon. The food will not taste any better but the cooking process is easier now. I might get another for Father's Day!

I actually purchased two of these to hold a Oval Dutch Oven up off the coals when cooking over a camp fire. By turning them upside down they work better than when using regular campfire type pots with the legs that can work there way lower, especially on soft ground. Oh! they also work perfect as a lid stand.
