What are the dimension of the bale (L, W, H) while still dry and in its plastic wrapping?

The other answer is not true. It is 3.5x5x9inches. It is way smaller than any other 12L package that I’ve gotten before, and when I hydrated it, it only made about 4 liters.

Is this suitable for mounting staghorn ferns in a wire basket or a wall mount?

I don’t have experience with staghorn ferns. I use this for padding mounts for orchids and in small pots. If you intend to pad a wooden mount form ferns, this would work well. I would not fill a large basket with this because it holds a great deal of water and would be too soggy. If you are lining a wire basket it would be easier to use a coco fiber liner or use loose coarse coir fiber (coconut fiber), or buy coco fiber mat in a sheet. Wet before use. Good luck!

How many cubic feet will this cover?

Am sorry I don't have the answer to this - I use it for orchid growing, but it is amazing how much moss this brick makes when it is dampened. The dry quantity is very deceiving and just a tiny amount provides quite a lot of coverage when it comes in contact with moisture.

can this be use for air layering?

It is very good quality moss. I use it for mounting orchids, so it should work for air layering.
