Very impressed, even though i wont admit it to my husband.. shh
So i keep seeing these stem 12 in 1 toys. I have been back and forth about getting one because my son is only 4. I knew it would be a challenge for him. My son loves building and my husband is very into solar and electric cars. Why this one? What made me change my mind? Honestly the picture with the tesla 🤷♀️ Perfect! My son and husband spent hours putting them together and had sooo much fun. My son was excited to be building and spending time with daddy and my husband was enjoying trying to teach my son about solar. The parts are all very well labeled so my husband would tell my son what he needed and he was able to find it and get them while my husband put it together. Again i knew it was way out of my sons age group and would be hard but the learning and bonding that came with it made it worth every penny.

Does not stay together
I purchased this for a very low price and was going to give it to my 8 year old grand nephew next Christmas. I decided to try it myself and if it was any good I would buy another. It starts out ok. You are given envelopes to sort out 4 types of parts each to make it easy to assemble later. The head assembly was easy and the motor worked and the gears turned. Now the trouble began. After assembling a few gear assemblies I had to assemble 3 parts into a single side assemble. There were 2 of them and the gear assemblies would go between. No matter what I did the pins would not hold the sides together. You would have to use glue for it to work. You had to put gear assemblies between sides that kept wanting to come apart. I finally gave up. The only way I would recommend this product is if you glue some parts together. That would not work for the wheels that were held in place with small pins that kept falling out.The eyes do not light up as shown in all the drawings. They are just plastic caps. You can not build all the projects without taking the previous ones apart, further loosening the pins.NOTE: I have done many plastic, wooden, and Lego kits so this is not my first experience.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!
First off, when purchasing this item the listing said for ages 8+ When it arrived the box said 10+. I’m in my 30’s and say this isn’t appropriate for any age. I bought this for my 7 year old to do and it’s too complicated for her and even for me.I don’t recall reading that I would need wire cutters in the listing but the “instructions” in the box say you need them. I don’t have any and scissors aren’t the easiest to use.My next complaint is the instructions are absolute rubbish! They’re full of pictures and no explanations. The pictures are moderately helpful at best. The parts don’t snap together as they should and things fall apart even after you follow the instructions.I could never get the body to move. Is this an issue with the solar panel or an issue with how I put it together? I don’t know as I followed the instructions as best as I could. This is nothing but a headache and a waste of time and money. I do not recommend! The ONLY positive I can come up with is they included bags and label stickers to keep the parts separate.

Decent Product, But Not Great Gift
This appears to be nicely designed and decent quality. However, our grandchildren who love Lego kits, had little interest in assembling these. The oldest, age 12, stuck with it for about an hour, only to find the motor did not work. His father assembled a motor from one of the other two sets and got one to work, but by this time, there was no interest in going further. Nice idea, but not for our kids.BTW, all three children excel in school, are in advanced classes and seem to love other projects, so no idea why these were not of interest. Of course, YMMV.

2 successful robots have been assembled.
This was a birthday gift to my 6 year old granddaughter. Even though the kit is suggested for 8 year olds and up, my granddaughter was engaged in working with her grandfather to put the first Roly-Poly robot together which worked great and then she worked with her father to put the second robot together. Each robot is a good lesson on solar power. My husband was amazed that each robot worked for what we paid for the kit. I ordered the same robot kit for my husband (the grandfather), so he could work in his very own robots.

Only recommended as a adult (with patience) and child project
Add on Amazon says good for ages 8+, when box arrived said 10+. Even at 10, would be difficult for child to assemble by themselves. Pieces did not fit together well and require significant adjustments to make it work. Gear fit is not well constructed, leading to significant child frustration. Positive side, it did show him how a solar panel worked.

Great rainy day project for kids
Great for a day where the kids are bored and you are feeling sluggish due to the gloomy weather. Spend the day with the kids and put this together so you can wait until it's sunny again to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Great way to teach patience to 7yr olds

Parts wouldn't line up
Bought this for my 10 yr old son for Christmas, we went to put it together but the spindles inside wouldn't stayed lined together in order to make the wheels work for longer then a few seconds. we took it apart 4 times trying to find a solution.
