Brian May

Very enjoyable, informative, well written for sure.
I thinkBrian is the greatest legendary guitarist up there with Hendrix. Different styles yes, but Brian May hypnotizes me with his handmade guitar. He's a genius with that instrument, & unique. Some very interesting history about Brian before Queen & during & after. Also becoming a Dr. Of Astrophysics & being awarded an honorary medal by Queen Elizabeth called A CBEI believe. Well worth the time & $$$. I wish he'd write his own autobiography. ROGER TOO.!! JOHN won't happen I don't think... unless he dictates it to his daughter or son. & Hmmmm? Maybe in their late 90s when they get tired of "album ... tour... album... tour... 😆 I can't get enough of Queen. Oh, also loved, loved, loved Jim Hutton's book, reading for the 3rd time. He spent Freddie's last 6 years living with him at Garden Lodge & its all about their homelike together, so different from the other books. It is sweet. They loved each other & cried over knowing Freddie's death was imminent. But only the last year. Thank God Freddie finally found "Somebody to Love ". This book will make you smile all the way through as Jim writes about the sweet things they did for each other. They spent his last 6 years together &Jim stayed with him & took care of him with Joe & Phoebe. READ IT. ITS HAPPY !!!

An Excellent Biography
I don't agree with those who have stated this book is mostly about Freddie. Not hardly! I have been totally engrossed in this book for a few days and have just about finished it. It wasn't easy to put down. Because Brian May is and was a fairly quiet person when not onstage, there is just so much to be said about him then doesn't involve other members of Queen. There were some missing details, such as the actual relationship (physical or only emotional at the beginning?) between Anita Dobbs and Brian, and that was probably because Brian wasn't about to discuss it with the author. While the book isn't perfect, it's probably about as good as you're going to get when it comes to talking about Brian May. The only part I didn't like much was the beginning when the talk was too technical for me, in regards to Brian's love of guitars as a small child and what he did to build his own. That went right over my head. I am not a guitar techie.I find it interesting that the price keeps going up and down, obviously depending on how many books are available. I paid just over $17 for the book only to find it down to $15 a few days after I received mine in the mail, and now it's back up in price again. It took a couple of weeks to arrive here but showed up long before I was originally told it would. This is a book I'll be keeping permanently. I just wish it had been written more recently.

A book well worth reading
If you are a Queen fan and a Brian May fan this book will impress you with the hard work involved in becoming a world renowned band . I could not believe the intense touring schedule this band had. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to find the nitty gritty of being a rock star.

Brian May an outstanding guitarist and intellectual!
Well written and the information seems correct as I have read 3 books of Freddie Mercury s life and info is consistent. Nice to get more information on Brian May who is a big part of what has made Queen the mega super band of the century!

Continues to stay relevant!
The book was written awhile ago but it is interesting still today. Brian writes from the heart during his life and none of it is boring! The man is a genius...in more ways than one. The book does not put you to sleep!

Informative. Good read.
Some reviews said this book focused too much on Freddie. I disagree. It was a good blend of how Freddie impacted Brian. I learned quite a bit about Brian & I believe he was often the glue that kept them together.

Best book I've read!
I've probably read this book about 4 times, and I've loved it each and everytime. I've idolised Brian May for a very long time, and reading this book made me like him even more :) I'm not much of a reader, either. But, I really liked this book.

How well do you know Brian May?
I thought that I knew him pretty well, but this book brought revelations that others had merely hinted at. If you are a fan of Queen, then you'll enjoy learning a lot more about Brian May. A valuable addition to your library about Queen.

A Good Read for Queen Fans
A bit out of date by 2020, still very enjoyable. So much focus is usually given to Freddie it made a change to see things from Brian’s perspective.
