Very helpful
Helpful and insightful. I love this line of books from his company. The practice tests are amazing and help me accomplish exactly what I want. They give me confidence going into my final exams.

Really helpful
This book is really helpful. The information inside was really everything I needed to help me study. Not only gave definitions but explanations of everything as well. The practice questions were extremely helpful. After taking my test, I found that some of the questions that were on my exam were very similar to what was on the exam. While they weren't the exact question, the similarity really helped when it came to taking it. When it came to studying, I did have other books and notes but I found myself reading this from cover to cover several times. With the questions I kept missing, even though I had the answers, I was able to go back through this book and find where I messed up on. Even with taking practices tests online, I again referenced this book majority of the time. Very informative.

Book contradicts itself and the practice tests are awful
To start with the good things about this book, most of the information taught is beneficial, especially for beginners or those separated from the topics covered for many years. I suppose having this book would be better than not studying at all for the OAR.Unfortunately, this book has far more working against it than for it. As I have seen mentioned in other reviews, some information contained within the book is directly contradictory to itself. Some information given is also far too short and oversimplified to suffice on a test; even their own practice tests require more knowledge than they provide to know the correct answers. My primary grief with this book is the practice tests, and it was my motivation for purchasing this book. There are 15 tests with 20-30 questions each. Around 5-10 questions on each test are complete throwaways for various reasons. Some questions do not provide enough information to attempt an answer. For example, "A cannonball is dropped from 10 meters off the ground. What will the velocity of that cannonball be before it hits the ground in meters per second?" A quick Google search will provide the formula for velocity: change in distance/change in time, the book itself even provides this formula. However, this problem does not indicate the amount of time that passed, making this impossible to calculate. The answer provided is 14m/s, with no explanation as to how the answer was derived, it could just be my own shortcomings as to why I cannot solve this, but that would be the purpose of the book to help me understand. The lack of explanation for their answers extends to about half of the questions on each test, other questions can also be horribly worded, factually incorrect, or rely on information not provided within the book.TL;DR, seriously consider different test prep materials

Exam prep--organized!
Well organized exam prep. The answers are easy to find and the explanations helped me out. I think I'm prepared for this exam after getting this book.

terrible incorrect misinformation
How this book has received 4+ stars blows my mind. First the explanations and definitions for things are not only extremely confusing they way they are worded but there are constant grammatical throughout the entire book. The math section explains things incorrectly and within the 6th question on the first math test it was already teaching wrong information and giving wrong answers. When the book told me that on a graph going left of point (0,0) on the x axis was positive I was instantly skeptical of the rest of the book. To teach something so simple and get it wrong I thought was possibly just a type-o, since they are all throughout the book. The example for drag literally contradicts itself on the next paragraph. This is an actual quote from the book "The force produced on a projectile as it moves is called the drag. The drag is produced by the gravitational pull for the most part, but the wind and other conditions in an area may also factor in." Then it goes on to say that "the force from a muzzle may also be a factor, especially if there is something in the way of the muzzle." Then gives this great example, "A great example of drag is the design of a parachute. A parachute uses a curved design that will produce a drag that can collect the pressure or force produced but a falling item." Not only is this definition wrong its confusing and awkward sounding. Not once do they say anything about friction or a force acting on an object in the opposite direction. Here's the first sentence from wikipedia, "In fluid dynamics, drag (sometimes called air resistance, a type of friction, or fluid resistance, another type of friction or fluid friction) is a force acting opposite to the relative motion of any object moving with respect to a surrounding fluid" That one sentence is more correct then multiple paragraphs in this book, and there is stuff like that all throughout the entire thing. Newtons 3 laws are worded extremely confusing and also give all wrong examples. The definitions for levers are also wrong and again give wrong or horrible definitions. Some of this stuff can't be just explained in a paragraph. there are ZERO pictures to help explain these concepts. I lost faith in this book within a few pages and began fact checking it the entire rest of the way. There is some good information in it but the amount of bad information is honestly dangerous especially for someone trying to score high on the OAR. I have used a few other OAR and ASTB study guides and they were much better then this and guess what.....accurate. This books seems like it was written by some people that kind of remembered how to do some things they learned in high school. Save your money, I'm already returning it.

Good mind-prep; some wrong answers
I appreciate that the book gets me thinking in the correct vein of things. There are some overt incorrect answers though so for someone that is very new to these subjects and may not have the wherewithal to pick up on the nuances, this could be unreliable and steer them in the wrong direction.

Typos All Over the Book
At least 10 questions have typos. Which can be frusterating when you are grading yourself and then realize you do poorly, and then you read the answer and there is a mistake in the answer key.The book is still a good source of practice, but just make sure you take it with a grain of salt, because the most reoccuring theme after completing this was typos in the answer key.
