Easy to Use
Great product, good value, it creates a very smooth finish with almost no bubbles if you go slow in applying. It leaves a clear finish. This is my go-to finish since it cleans up so easy.

Minwax Polyurethane
Nice coverage and easy application with thickness of polyurethane best applied with a microfiber sponge. No dripping snd quick clean up. Made a huge difference and withstands the elements. Gallon is better value.

Great Product
Really like the hybrid aspect of this product to provide a quality finish and durability while still providing for water clean-up.

Strong, Durable, Yellowing
Love this oil motified, goes on so much easier than the oil based, does NOT smell for weeks.. like the oil based. It can go over water or oil based stain, no streaking. It does yellow, so be aware if you have light colored wood you will be sealing, we did not, so this was glorious. I HIGHLY recommend this.

Blessing and Curse
This water-based polyurethane dries very quickly, which is a blessing and a curse. The quick-dry time allows you to add three coats in one day; however, if you make a mistake, you better clean it up quickly. If not, too late: It's dry! Clean up any drops as soon as you see them. Soap and water gets it up easily, as long you act quickly. I had an incident in which I had to re-sand a portion of floor, then re-stain and add polyurethane. A portion dried as a white glaze. I did not act on it, because I read that it is common for there to be white marks that will disappear once dry. This is true, unless there is a big section of white. If so, get it up. If you have small, white lines, it will dry clear -- not big sections. Another plus is that there is basically no smell. Twice, I forgot to put on my mask and did not realize it until I was halfway done. That would not have happened with stain that I used: The smell was strong. For application, I prefer the floor finish applicator for water-based stains and the brush. I did not like using the roller for this product. The applicator and brush allowed for better control, in my opinion, which helped prevent bubbles. And, as for durability, it is too soon to tell. I do not usually write lengthy reviews, but I want to provide as much information as possible to the novices out there (such as myself).

Not having the problems others have cited.
Important mahogany stairs project, would have paid for a premium varnish but this less expensive option was specifically recomended for floors and seemed to have similar reviews to others that were up to twice as expensive. Details: I am in Kalifornia so can't even get some alternative products. Coating individual stair treads, indoors so working time was not an issue. Used foam brush on final coat, clean up with water was great, nice satin finish. Can't speak to durability yet but it is a yellow product so might hesitate on very light wood. I also like the Helmsman water based varnish which is very clear, (once i got used to the VERY short working time) so this slower cure hybrid was actually easier.

Pretty decent finish, but not without its flaws
I grabbed the Minwax Water Based Oil-Modified Polyurethane in Warm Satin because I wanted that quick-drying, low-odor top coat that still gives wood a rich, cozy look. And for the most part, it delivers. The finish came out smooth, looked warmer than clear satin, and I was able to recoat just two hours later like it claims. Cleanup was a breeze with just water—no stinky solvents, which I really appreciated. But here’s where things went sideways. I’ve read others complain about seeing bubbles or an uneven sheen, and sadly, that’s exactly what happened to me too—tiny pinholes popped up, and the sheen looked blotchy in a few spots. I’m convinced mine was a bad can, not the whole product line. Elsewhere I got a smooth, flawless satin. So that inconsistency? That’s on this batch, not the formula. Still, I liked the final look—subtle warmth, durable feel, and fast drying made the job easier. If your can behaves, you’ll get that perfect combo of beauty and convenience. But don’t be surprised if you get a dud like I did—it’s solid work but demands a flawless batch to shine.

User Friendly
I have used this product for approximately 6 years and it has been such a solid product. It really is user friendly - meaning anyone can use it and get good results. What I like about it is that It seems to level out even if you accidentally apply too much material it levels out nicely…. And it drys quickly. I’ve seen product hold up in direct uv and wet conditions. I have noticed however that this newly labeled “warm satin” is definitely on the low end of sheens - it’s not like your typical satin sheen. Also, be prepared to wash your brush well- soap and water … but you still end up with a stiff brush because of the oil component in the material. In all - a great product!! I would recommend this product
