If it’s exactly 1/2 inches you will need at least 13mm to just clear without tension. It's then up to you as to how loose you want it beyond that. Be you have measured it accurately to the nearest 1 mm or 1/16 inch.

Rose Gold is pretty like a highlight gold. But it has to be 18k or 14k or gold plated. Do not get gold tone.
