AVI-8 Mens 42mm Spitfire Type 300 Automatic Pilot Watch with Solid Stainless Steel Bracelet AV-4073

This is a gorgeous watch (brushed black finish). The build is top rate and the metal band is pleasingly tapered and extremely comfortable. I've not yet tried the leather band that comes with it, but it's attractive and feels like it would be easy on the wrist also. The watch is big, but not excessively so and looks perfect on my large wrist. I hardly notice the weight and find it easier to wear than my smart watch, which is much smaller and lighter. It's easy to read, though the choices they made on what to highlight are puzzling, but it does not deter from reading the time at all. It was easy to size and the tools in the extra strap case and extra pins pins are appreciates. I bought a winder for it (650 TPD, counter clockwise) but plan to wear it a lot. It's a good looking timepiece. You'll like this watch. I certainly do.

Watch is a good size. Keeps accurate time. Reserve power is adequate. Fairly comfortable to wear.Absence of a hack feature in a watch designed for the aviation industry is a major design flaw.Without the hack feature watches cannot be synchronized which is a major problem in aviation.Also forget timing events and lapsed time.

I have a couple of AVI-8 watches, one quartz and this automatic, and I generally have the same problem with both of them…HORRIBLE LUME. Honestly the photo doesn’t do it justice, it’s just the iPhone doing what it does and pulling all of the light to one place. After wearing all day in the sunlight, it’s barely legible to the naked eye in the dark. For $400+ retail, I expect better.Apart from that the design is nice, as with most of their watches the focus is on the aesthetics, this is no different. It holds time well and power reserve is right about average with most automatics. Adjustment is easy, micro-adjustment is a nice touch. Leather strap seems a bit cheap/stiff but that’s just a first impression, I never actually used it.All in all it’s not a bad watch. If you’re enamored with the aesthetic and it’s going to be an every-day wear, it’s probably worth the price, better if you can get it for around $300. In my opinion this belongs closer to the $200~$240 price point, especially considering the Seikos and Citezens you can get for that. At this price, go for an Out of Order, or a Laco if you’re into the aviation stuff.

I have had this automatic AV-8 watch for about a week now and kept it powered up to check its time keeping and i am very pleased to say it keeps almost perfect time, it gains about 2 seconds per day which is more than acceptable for an automatic watch. So it functions well and to my mind and taste it also looks fantastic with the brushed gunmetal finish and grey dial with white and black numerals, the rotor which can be seen through the glass back is in the shape of a Spitfire which is a nice touch. Its not too large as some pilot style watches are and the strap is easily adjustable if you have the right tools, if not it also comes with a nice grey leather strap that gives it a more traditional look, either way it looks great.Out of the box i was impessed with this watch, it has an expensive look and feel to it and when adjusting the time you feel a satisfying feedback from the mechanism as you do with high end watches which makes you think its built to last.Overall i'm delighted with this watch and so far i can't fault it.

für mich sieht die uhr genial schön aus. als fliegeruhr ist sie mir aber um mindedtens 3mm zu klein. sie ist vom durchmesser her eher wie eine swatch. aber das weiß man bei der bedtellung. was aber einen stern abzug brachte ist die genauigkeit, lauflänge ohne tragen und das wechseln des uhrbandes.- nach einer woche durchgängigem tragen musste ich um 2 minuten korrigieren.- nach einer woche durchgängigem tragen hab ich die uhr abgelegt und sie lief keine 12h mehr nach. von den 36h hab ich also nur einen bruchteil gesehen.- mir war ein wechsel des uhrbandes von metall auf leder nicht möglich. frustriert habe ich vom lieferanten dann die meldung bekommen, dass ich dad bei einem uhrmacher machen lassen soll. kostete mich 20.-.es wird damit geworben, dass man das kinderleicht selbst machen kann und bei anderen uhren habe ich das immer ohne probleme machen können. die stifte waren aber zu fest verankert, als das ich sie aushebeln konnte...kratzer am metallband inklusive :-(

Devo essere onesto, non mi aspettavo tutta questa qualità per un orologio meccanico di questa fascia di prezzo, il meccanismo di primo acchito sembra impeccabile il cinturino ed il vetro sono solidissimi ed è veramente così luminoso al buio come in foto,Se proprio volessimo trovare il "pelo nel uovo" le tolleranze del parti intercambiabili del cinturino son un pò "lasche" e permettono un po di gioco orizzontale tra le maglie che visto da un punto di vista clinico non e perfetto, ma questo gioco permette alla cassa di muoversi quando l'orologio scende sul dorso della mano per i mancini senza lasciare il classico segno della rotellina sul dorso della mano appunto.Forse e il primo articolo a cui lascio 5 stelle da quando amazon e arrivato in italia
