CURT 13842 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2-Inch Receiver, Fits Select Nissan Frontier

I chose this hitch because the listing stated that no drilling was required, and installed it on a 2003 Nissan Frontier King Cab. The hitch lined up perfectly with existing holes in the underside of the frame and bolted up tight. As shown in the listing photos, there are two vertically oriented mounting lugs that are supposed to attach to the inside surfaces of the bumper bracket. The bolt holes in the lugs lined up with existing holes in the bracket, but the spread of the lugs was too small and they each ended up inset from the bracket by about 1/4". I spoke with a CURT product support rep who said the lugs should have a spread of 42" between their outer edges, which they did. I told the rep that I bought longer Grade 8 bolts and filled the gaps with washers before torquing down the bolts. He said this would be satisfactory. Like I said, almost perfect fit.

Fit my Nissan 2003 Frontier very well. My tailpipe hits it and rattles but it is an easy fix. Bolts up easily and was much easier to install than a universal unit. I plan on keeping it mounted for the life of the truck so I used loctite (heavy duty) during installation and the bolts are very secure.The product did arrive damaged but who knows where and when that damaged originally happened. Once I figured out to use a board and a tire jack to press/stretch the unit into it's proper place it was easy to bolt up and the jack and board actually held it in place so one person could easily do the job although my son helped me. I have pulled a utility trailer and an arrow sign from Virginia to Long Island and the Hitch had no problems other than the tailpipe issue which again is an easy fix. I would recommend this product to others.

I would have given it five stars if I had just been able to bolt it on like advertised, but I had to tweak it. The 1/2 nuts were not welded directly on top of the holes in the steel plate preventing the bolts from screwing through. Luckily I had the proper drill bit and tap to drill and tap through the nut and into the steel plate. This one might have been an exception, but this should be a key quality control check on a bolt-on unit. The upper 7/16 bolts on the bumper would not fit. The holes in the hitch and on the bumper didn't match close enough. I substituted some smaller diameter 3/8 bolts and nuts I had and it worked fine. This was on a 2004 Nissan Frontier four door long bed.

The receiver itself is great. Fit our truck like a glove. BUT. 1 bolt and 3 washers were missing from the packaging. In fact, the bolts, washers and nuts that did make it to us were loose in the box, not even sealed up in a bag or a box. So, given that, I'm not surprised that a few pieces went missing. I'd give this a 5 if we had gotten all the necessary parts to install it, but instead it took an extra trip to the hardware store to buy the missing parts.

Would of been five stars but two holes (upper 7\16 like ) did not line up as other reviewers have noted... So im going to have to figure that out, I have a 2003 frontier crew cab long bed. Other than the two holes not aligning everything is great.. Bolts on.

Although the fit guide says this model is targeted for 2004 and later Nissan Frontier with a long bed, it fit perfectly on my 2001 Nissan Frontier King Cab long bed. (75"bed).Like all below bumper hitches, it reduces ground clearance by about 4". I can live with that.It took me 15-20 minutes to install the hitch by myself in my driveway.

Well made product, easy installation. Powdercoat finish looks great, should be more durable than the paint finishes I've had on other receivers. Would recommend Curt products to whoever needs a nice hitch for their vehicle.

My new receiver hitch fit perfectly and I had it installed in about 10 minutes. I haven't towed with it yet, but I've enjoyed the additional traction in the snow this year from the additional weight in the rear of my 2WD truck.
