Im sure there's more bang for your buck if you were to buy this off the shelf in Japan, imported it loses some value for money spent. It's still pretty good though, its dense, light in flavor, and not a chore to eat. I can see how this would feel drying if you have a naturally dry mouth. I have an active saliva production so i didn't need a drink with it, but others might. It's not going to be as candy like in flavor compared to protein bars found in America, but it's got more nutrients. I had this on a completely empty stomach and after 5 or so minutes of eating it i felt decently satiated. Not full but not stomach pain inducing hungry either. Im most likely going to buy it again in the bulk option

THAT’S PRETTY GOOD

I’ve wanted to try this for a long time since I played MGS3, but hesitated because of the price. I finally got it and tried it. I’m not going to be living off of it, but I’ll definitely put some in my pocket and lunch now and then. It’s very filling for its size, and once you look at the calorie-to-cost ratio it’s not unreasonably priced either. That being said it could certainly be a bit cheaper, but I’m in the United States so I guess I can’t expect a great price on something imported from Japan. The chocolate flavor is pretty subdued, more like a dull cocoa but I like that. Dries out your mouth a little but not badly by any means. Makes a great snack.

Solid energy bar. Very light flavor initially. Bar is incredibly soft, like a solidified powder. The flavor reminds me of Fudge (chocolate) Poptarts' crust, not super chocolatey. The design is cool, very retro 70's/80's vibe to it. I was scared they'd melt during the summer during shipping, however the product seems to be heat resistant and the golden sleeve packaging is very durable and would probably hold up well if exposed to water, for those that may want to bring this camping.

It's perfect for camping and for espionage missions!!! Tastes great too! I'm a taxi driver for an up and coming company and this is perfect on the go! Totally worth the value! Definitely gonna buy more!

I wanted a good snack and was thinking of Metal Gear Solid at the time when I bought these. They're really good.

Loves MGS3 so I bought these and was surprised and how much I liked them. Very filling had one packet while working an overnight and was full all night. Texture is kinda boring but flavor is decent! Would continues to buy if they weren't so expensive

I got this because I am a giant metal gear fan. I feel like most people buying this are. At first it tasted like chalk and it was terrible. After a few bites it started getting better and better. Soon, the whole thing started to taste amazing.

I bought this because of MGS3. It isn't a groundbreaking taste sensation, but a slightly bland although not unpleasant chocolate shortbread. I would recommend it over an inky cap or yabloko moloko.It came all the way from Japan. The four bars are foil wrapped in twos. I paid around £4 and I thought it was fair for the novelty.

The Calorie Mate famously seen and consumed in Metal Gear Solid 3, is basically a shortbread chocolate cookie/biscuit. It’s very easy and quick to eat, a little dry too, so wash it down with water or a morning tea, but that’s expected from a shortbread style cookie/biscuit. The box is small, about the size of your hand and contains two foiled packages inside, each with two cookies inside. The delivery was surprisingly quick, I expected it to arrive about a month after I ordered it, but roughly two and a bit weeks later it showed up, Japanese post is certainly efficient. It also came with an invoice document for customs and a thank you card, as well as a small square of paper with a decorative pattern on one side, maybe that’s Japanese tradition, either way it was cool. Many thanks and certainly will buy another one.

One of the lesser flavors from this brand... It vaguely tastes of chocolate, but it relatively bland all around. I would opt for a different flavor.

Die Riegel sind trocken und bröselig. Der Geschmack ist in Ordnung aber nichts besonders. Sie enthalten zwar viele verschiedene Vitamine, mehr Eiweiß könnte es aber gerne sein.

So delicious, shame I can't get it in Canada. Tastes like chocolate Pop Tart, the part with no icing or frosting.
