Santa Monica: A Novel

What in the heck did I just read? I can't believe I read the whole thing! This wasn't a novel - this was the author's political and social justice warrior opinions on display. There was literally no redeeming purpose to this at all. Was there really a plot? Sigh. I rated it a 2 start simply because once I made it half the way through I guess I wanted to see where it was going? I somehow feel the need for a long, hot shower to cleanse the grime off of me after reading this, this . . . whatever this was. I used to never give bad reviews, but this was pretty vile in my humble opinion.

I quit reading about 60%. I got tired of reading the author's political opinion. No even handling of sides. I don't think it is anywhere near true

The Politics were ridiculousTrashy novel

I really thought I'd enjoy this book from descriptions. I would not have finished if I hadn't paid money for it. I always thought Santa Monica would be great place to visit. If real people there are as described in this book, I no longer want to visit. Many readers will be put off by political references (lots!). Book is well edited, characters are described by chapter, easy to read, climate & immigration are mentioned frequently. Some readers will be put off by graphic sexual scenes. Reminded me of my Mother's soap operas on TV.There is a death to figure out, but it was not thrilling.

I found this book to be childish and boring.

This is a new author team for me. The book read well and moved quickly. It's a great story. The characters are complex and interesting. Oh, the life of the ultra rich! That in conjunction with the undocumented workers of this world made a truly good book! The struggles are real.

I was surprised by how much I liked this book. It was a little heavy-handed on the political correctness, but it was an engaging fun read anyway.

I was pretty surprised by the ending and the pacing kept the story moving along real quick, so it's a fun, smart read! Glad I read it.
