The Helpless Doorknob: A Shuffled Story

I love both the concept, and Gorey's inimitable implementation!This "story" consists of 20 cards, each with an illustration depicting the sentence in the story. For example (a personal favorite!) "Amanda found several unfolded napkins on a back shelf." Each sentence is rife with meaning- but WHAT meaning??? Well, that's left to the reader!The illustrations are wonderfully Gorey, and the sentences beg to be put into a context and thus a narrative!Great fun, especially for Gorey fans!

Cute idea and Gorey ... but they weren't at all sealed, which seemed odd when giving them as a gift.

Didn't expect it to come in flash card sizes but it was very cute

This is one of Gorey's oddities, not as sharply satirical as classics like his alphabet or "The Beastly Baby." Nevertheless, fans will find much to enjoy.

eh. I expected better. Random story line really doesn't work with each sufgle. Goog EG artwork and idea anyway.

Well, you either like Ed Gorey or you don't. Quirky, macabre but whimsical. The cards are a small piece of that bizarre imagination and are a refreshing change from the brash humour that currently dominates the market. If you've got as far as looking at this item, you won't be disappointed.
