Jim Lea Live, what more needs to be said?
Wonderful too see Jim playing live even if the production is amature-ish.

A bit of a curiosity...
I'd read a few rave reviews of this one off concert and how exciting it was to have been there, etc. As a Slade fan I was quite excited to see that it was available on video. However, strip away the bludgeoning power and volume in the venue and it really isn't that great. Jim Lea makes it plain at the outset that this was a hastily put together show and so the performances might be a bit rough and ready. They are pretty ragged most of the time, but there is a good sense of urgency throughout most of the show. It's like a pub covers band. What really wears thin quickly is that Jim's voice and guitar playing are pretty limited and it's plain why he didn't get to sing many lead vocals with Slade. There's a general cockiness about his attitude on stage, but not much sign of charisma. You really couldn't imagine him shining as a solo artist or frontman, but from the (then) new song Great Big Family it's clear that he still has the knack for writing songs with hooky sing-a-long choruses

Blown away!!!!!
Holy Moly!!!!50 minutes of pure rock that will blow you away from the first note!!!!After a short rehearsal between the three musicians, they come with a show like this - brilliant!!!!I only gave it 4 stars since it's only 50 minutes and a poor quality of the video shot (one camera only that zooms in and out), but the sound is good.

Loved it from start to finish
Just watched Jim Lea For One Night Only. Loved it from start to finish. Had the cd of the show for a few years now and was amazed by the power of the performance from 3 under rehearsed, so said Jim , guys. Well the DVD has not disappointed. Great effort Jim and wish you would have toured downunder. Saw Slade in 1973 at Melbourne Showgrounds with Status Quo and Lindesfarne to name a couple. Slade were my first group. Well done Jim. You are deserving of high praise for your contribution to rock . Cheers and rockon. Michael Wilkins

It's great to see this footage of Jim Lea's only proper ...
It's great to see this footage of Jim Lea's only proper solo gig ever - I grinned from start to finish with the sheer joy of the DVD. Jim introduces each song (filmed in 2017) and explains that he took the bass back in the old days rather than lead guitar because he didn't want to be noticed - here we see his natural flare and showmanship on the lead guitar. Loved it all - what a hero!
