Great seal, works as I've come to expect from Felpro
Works as it should. Went in easy enough on a 2002 1.8 Miata.I was in the middle of a clutch job and decided I wouldn't want to remove the transmission again if the installed seal ever went bad, so I bought this as some preventative maintenance. I chose not to replace the thing as Mazda says you should, by removing the entire oil pan and whatnot. Instead I just took two coarse thread drywall screws, drilled very small holes (CAREFULLY!) on either side of the old seal, and gently screwed the drywall screws into those holes. Make sure not to hit either sealing surface and you'll be golden and the old seal will pop right out. Then just some finagling and greasing up and you'll have the new one on in no time, just make sure not to sink it any lower than the old one was.

WARNING - Proceed with Caution
I ordered this Rear Main Seal Kit to complete the replacement of the clutch on my 1999 Miata. I figured, "While I'm in there I should replace the Rear Main Seal also." The Rear Main Seal in the kit good... But...Unless you are ready and repared to replace the Oil Pan Gasket sealing material, which entails either raising the engine or dropping the sub-frame, DO NOT try to remove the Retainer and Factory SEALANT and replace with this Felt Half-moon Gasket. When the Rear Main Seal Retainer is removed, the Factory RTV Seal between the Engine Black and the Oil Pan is compromised and WILL LEAK. The only way to restore the Block / Oil Pan Seal is by dropping the Oil Pan, cleaning the mating surfaces and resealing with new sealant. There is no "gasket" behind the Retainer, only a single, continuous factory RTV seal, which is part of the Oil Pan Seal.

Check the gaskets make sure it is not cracked or broken
It's great. But packaging needs to be better made.Rear main seal slides around in the inside of the small box envelope damaging the rear main seal gasket

Well made.
So far good. Appears to be better quality than OEM. I have about 2000 miles on the car since replacement including 3 autocross events.

Excellent seal! As expected from Fel-Pro
The rear seal fits perfectly on my 91 Miata and seals tightly around the rear crank. Its identical, if not better than the OEM part. I didn't bother with the gasket however, but so far I have no leaks or oil level issues to mention.
