Richard Harris: The Biography
N**E
Impossible to read.
I am a massive fan of Richard Harris and was so very much looking forward to reading this book. For a paperback it isn't cheap. So I was very disappointed when it arrived to fine the text was so small it was impossible to read. For some odd reason they hadn't used the whole page for the text. Instead the text in tiny and squeezed into the middle of the page, why?I am a big reader and I have never seen this before. Sadly, i had to return the book. So, unless you have the eyes of an eagle you will struggle to read this book. If the text was normal size I would buy the book, but not in its current format. Disappointed.

same author who wrote bestselling robert redford biography
a highly entertaining read (as was to be expected). Have just finished reading the Redford biography which was excellent so I knew that this would be well written and very detailed and incisive.

Deep Insight
I just recently finished this book (paperback) and i wish it didn't end.I also purchased a kindle copy (first time I tried an E book) , and it compares very well , to holding and reading a physical book.I grew up watching Richard Harris in films. I enjoyed all of them ,his charm and excellent delivery. what this biography does , is put you mentally and spiritually at Richards side. It is akin to being a neighbour seeing Richard Harris in a local pub , gaining an insight into his soul.what really hit me was the detailed events surrounding each film. Despite all the events in his life , his show went on , on the stage, back stage and in the street.A good book, is one that draws you in so completely, you don't realise you are reading, you are just there. For me, this is one of those books. Enjoy !

Inspirational Harris
I very much enjoyed the book. Callan skill fully grafts together contemporary accounts of Harris with his own voice. He manages to put you in the 'moment' of his life. agreeing to be Dumbledore after a call with his grand daughter. Grieving for his brother Dermot. Like a previous reviewer I was sorry to reach the last page. Harris lived every day as though it was and then it was. The impact is to make me want to live my life more on my own terms and to the full. Also It really made me fancy a pint of Guinness. Great read.

so that like an old dear friend
A journey into a man's life that lived full on. Michael Feeney Callan is a masterful writer on the layers of personality. He draws you into the complexities of the personality with all its triumphs and all its frailty, so that like an old dear friend, you feel like you really know Mr Harris the man.I highly recommend Michael Feeney Callan's books, clearly a man of details, passion for life, his subjects and the written word. I recommend a quiet space and this gem of a book.
