Torpedo Pump Black 7500 Gallon - T7500

BUY THE WARRANTY
The Torpedo pump is great - when it works. Quality is sketchy. I've had them last from a couple of months to a couple of years. I've had 5 or 6 Torpedo pumps since I rebuilt the pond in 2018. The last 3 were purchased from Amazon. Purchased a pump 11/2020 and it failed by 2/2021, it was replaced for free. The replacement failed 1/2022 and of course the manufacturer's warranty is expired and the price for this replacement pump has gone up quite a bit. This pump is 4 months old and it sounds like a bearing is going which is the usual issue, the pump will develop a high-pitched whine and you know it's gonna crap out. This purchase I read through all the extra warranty info (which isn't much) for electric yard stuff, sorry I don't remember what it's called, and decided to buy it. The reviews seem to be 50-50 on whether the warranty is honored but I think the $50-or-so-bucks is worth the risk vs. over $400+ for a replacement every year. The downside is that I have to wait for the pump to die in order to file a claim, rather than just buy a replacement when I hear the bearing starting to go.This is used in a 1200 gallon backyard pond, measures about 12x6x2.5d, with fish. One end is a stacked stone waterfall about 2' high, so total rise from pump is about 3' over a 20' distance. I clean the filter net and brushes weekly at a minimum.

Good pump, my last 1 lasted almost 7 years
Only down side-it EATS power. We have a man made 25 ft stream-water fall. Had I known on the initial construction, I would have lowered the "fall" to use a pump cheaper to run. I live in Ga. and with the cost of power, I figure it cost about $30/month to run the "stream" 24/7.

torpedo pump 7500
Great pump, don't last very long though. Get about 2 seasons out of this kind of pump in koi pond.

Lasted less than 3 months
But the warranty starts when the product is delivered, and it ends 6 months later, and they have to be notified within the six month period. It doesn't matter if you can prove it failed within the six month period. Really poor product.

so pumping 6500 GPH up and incline of 18 inches to a waterfall is easy for this pump
Expensive, but with pumps you get what you pay for. I had a 4000 GPH pump and in the end it would overheat and shut down. It did not have enough uumph. The 7500 GPH will shoot a 3 inch column of water straight up about 8 feet, so pumping 6500 GPH up and incline of 18 inches to a waterfall is easy for this pump. keeps pond of 8,00 gallons oxygenated and supplies plenty of water to the filters.

I have a small waterfall designed using this pump so I can't change the design. These pumps last, at beat, 24 months. The bearings seem to wear out and it begins to whine. It gets so loud you can her it in the house, My last pump lasted only about 60 days and the impeller failed. And I found that they do not make or sell replacement parts. I just have to keep ordering a new pump every couple of years.

Cord was cut
Because of my 3” plumbing on my koi pond I am stuck with this type of pump. This is my 4th one since 2005. The last one only lasted 2 years. So got this new one today, only to find out the cord is cut and can not use it. Very disappointed as my fish have been without filtration for a week now. Now I have to wait again for a replacement. I did buy the 3 yr warranty, but I sure hope the replacement lasts longer then that. I’ll update review when I hear back on what they are going to do. When the replacement goes I will be doing some creative plumbing and get a different style and brand of pump.

DO NOT BUY THIS PUMP !!!
DO NOT BUY THIS PUMP !!! This pump is garbage. It will last only a year before water seeps into the motor and shorts it out. If you are lucky, it will short out within the 1 year warranty period and you will be savvy enough to know how to apply for warranty replacement before the year is up. If you go over 1 year you are out of luck.As for the seller BestNest, they know this is an inherently flawed and defective design, yet they keep selling it to unsuspecting buyers. The only reason I bought from Bestnest is that my pond plumbing was set up for this pump initially and it will be expensive and a major hassle to change over to a new pump design. But the concept of giving money to Bestnest to sell me another flawed pump is completely unacceptable. Bad product and bad vendor for selling what they KNOW is a defective product. Not dependable!
This pump serves a specific purpose for us and we have not been able to find an alternative. The down side is that they seem to fail in less than a year. I have two in service and have had to buy two or three a year for the last couple years because they keep failing.

This thing is junk. When I plugged the pump in after it had been in storage over the winter (in water, as directed), it did not run. It hasn't even been a year, and it's dead.I just got off the phone with customer service, and they said that I was out of luck because the model only carries a 6 month warranty. That's great, considering that the machine only actually worked for a total of a few months when I first bought it and then crapped out during the winter months when it's not being used. It hasn't even been a year yet, and I'm stuck with a $300+ torpedo-shaped door stop.

BEWARE....FAULTY SEAL
I had this pump for one of my outside fountains and it lasted 5 years so when it quit working, I purchased the same make and model as what I had. I feel like a pump is good if it can withstand extreme hot and cold weather and keep pumping for that long. This new pump lasted 4 months. The pump wasn't properly sealed so water got into the interior and it stopped working. Poorly manufactured.
