TalensToned Colour Pad Warm, A4, 50 Sheets, 180 g/m²

I was initially annoyed with how Talens presented this block. With four colours to try in a 50 sheet block I didn't expect 20 of them to be white and there to be only ten sheets of each of the other colours - which were the ones that interested me.So I wasn't feeling charitable toward it when I tried it out. There was also variability between the paper weights with the plethora of white seeming much thinner than the claimed 120 lbs which the toned sheets did have. From this unpromising start I ended up reluctantly impressed. Although I didn't much like the results with pastel or coloured pencil findingthe surface being too smooth to get a decent application. - Paint On texture is far better. I discovered the sizing and smooth surface was unexpectedly good with wet media. (This is something neither the Daler Rowney one nor Paint On do well, being far better with dry media.)Ink, aquarelle pencils and sticks and even light watercolour washes applied with a waterbrush worked well on it and although the paper dished slightly it didn't buckle. So far I have yet to find a mixed media paper that copes equally well with wet and dry media which is irksome. I think that this one is going to be handy for messing around with some media and am going to find it useful for sketches. However I am unlikely to buy it again as it is so limited in what one can apply to it .
