Brief But Concise Guide for the Rad Tech on the Go
This is a small but dense paperback that distills the essence of what a rad tech needs to know in terms of protecting him or herself from radiation in everyday clinical settings. It's written in clear, breezy language with little jargon which makes it easy to scan and read on the go. It has ten chapers that cover topics such as sources of radiation exposure, dose management regulations, x-ray interactions, fluoroscopy, shielding, tomography, etc. The last chapter focuses on pregnancy and what measures should be taken to protect the developing fetus. It's pretty up to date, with information on the use of the LNT model and the debate surrounding this. All of the chapters break down each topic into a list of subheadings ("Chapter at a Glance") followed by numerous bullet points delineating each concept. A few diagrams and illustrations are scattered throughout. There's even a reference and index at the back of the book, which makes the book feel even shorter. Despite this, it provides a lot of information in a small, compact package and will be highly useful to the rad tech on the go.
