I have been cooking / baking for over 30 years & love trying new products & recipes. As a family we are huge fans of all things spiced & this was amazing in quite a few recipes when I tested it. We particularly liked it in home made pasta & chicken salad. We use to use Mrs. D Extra Spicy along with other spices & fresh garlic for both but substituted with this instead to experiment. The spice had a wonderful aroma when opened & we found it to be just as good, if not better, as the flavor was definitely more suited to the overall taste when mixed with the olive oil & fresh garlic. After having such good results we tried marinating chicken with it & also seasoned a twice baked Potato Casserole, as well as some home made Mac n' Cheese & a quick batch of crockpot sausage soup & we loved it in every single recipe. I didn't need a large amount of the seasoning to get a nice full flavor when mixed with the other spices in the recipes & with spices like this I prefer to use them in a manner that blossoms their flavor by leaving it to sit overnight once mixed with the olive oil or what have you or by adding it to hot items that are actively cooking during the last few minutes so it doesn't cook away but still have enough time to release it's flavor. I also season by taste & didn't find that this mix was unbalanced or that it had one spice overpowering another which was nice.Overall this is a good product thus far. I will update if things change. I did receive this product for free but that has in no way influenced my review. I depend on honest reviews to buy the best products I can within my budget! This Spicy Italian rub/seasoning contains a wide assortment of whole/pieces of spices. The full group of spices are not revealed but the list starts with salt and red pepper is third followed by onion, garlic, thyme, fennel seed, oregano and basil.But while I can taste the other components the red pepper flakes are impossible to ignore. They have a medium-hot level of heat which is normally not a problem for me but here to my taste they are included too generously creating an imbalance which will limit my use.The plastic bottle has a flip-top lid covering a 5 opening sprinkle inner cover. The product arrives with a cellophane collar that bridges the lid and jar along with an inner seal on the opening to ensure it arrives fresh and untouched. To estimate shelf-life the Best By date is 19 months in the future but dates will vary. Like not love.

Around here, we love our spicy food so, when I saw this spicy Italian blend, I knew I had to try it.This blend is really tasty!I added it to some mostaccioli I made the other evening and it really amped up the flavor.I also sprinkled it on top of a pizza we had delivered because it needed a little more flavor. This blend added the perfect touch.I can't wait to try this in more of my soups and sauces.This is a great blend of Italian spices and the added red pepper really rounds out the flavor. We love it.It also comes in a good sized bottle and the price, for the amount you receive, is about the same as I pay for the regular 'name brand' Italian seasoning.Hubby and I like this one a lot and will use this instead of our old boring Italian seasoning from now on.If you like spicy Italian, you'll love this blend!5+ stars on this one!I hope this helps you.

We like spicy food and I always use Italian seasoning in my pasta dishes so this was a no-brainer for me. The end result was nice. I will say if you are used to spicy, this will not give you the kick you're used to. If you are usually timid around spices, this will give your mouth a blast.For me, if I wanted spicy pasta sauce I would create my own blend. I would use this in a pinch.

I use this seasoning as a topping for pizza to change up the flavor. Because of the crushed hot pepper it contains, it's spicy, although not so much that I have to be careful. The seasoning does contain salt as a first ingredient, which means that, and not the hot pepper, forces me to use more judiciously. It also contains the usual suspects of basil, oregano, garlic, and onion, but adds fennel seed for more complexity. The result is an Italian herb blend that can not only be used as I use it, on top of pizza, but also to flavor tomato sauces, poultry, bread crumbs -- whatever would take a spicy Italian blend of herbs and spices.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
