SHAD TR48 Motorcycle Aluminum Trunk, Hard Silver Finish Top Case, 48L Capacity, Holds 2 Full Face Helmets

The item was advertised as including the standard universal mounting plate (D1B481PA). After two replacements, it is still missing the mounting plate.

Couldn’t be happier with a case. Easy locking and removal, and great support for the rider with the optional backrest. I store a full face helmet and have room fo gloves and room left over for a jacket. I bought the aluminum plate for mounting, and it bolted down to my rear rack with a couple of existing screw holes and one additional drilled hole.

When I got my case, the fragile sticker on the box was already cut. When I took the top case out to inspect it, the lock was installed upside down. I'm already a user of a Shad topcase, so I had the mounting plate already. So this topcase fits perfectly, but the handle doesn't close flush to the case, unless you lock it with the key. So my guess is someone returned it to Shad, and Shad sold these returns to a 3rd party selling on Amazon for a $100 discount. I like the case, and can live with the issues for the discounted price, but 'caveat emptor'.

Unlike other reviews, my top case was definitely new in box, and didn't seem to suffer any of the issues others reported. However, the "included baseplate" was missing. I contacted the seller and inquired about paying the difference and upgrading to the aluminum baseplate (D1BTRPA); they agreed and I mounted using the aluminum plate. So far, no complaints. My passenger also liked having it there for stability, and even without the backpads (optional), they found it comfortable and didn't notice the hinges.
