Bosch vs Dremel 8220
Great toolPros: Led light, noise level, bosch batteries.Cons: Variable speed dial not easy to dial. The price. This one is just like dremel 8220 but a lot less noisy on max speed the level noise such as dremel in half speed. The led is great on bosch which doesn't exist in dremel.the variable speed dial of the dremel is a way better than the bosch.Overall it's pricey compared to dremel specially that dremel come with a way more accessories for less price.I own both 8220 and this bosch , bosch without the dremel attachments is nothing but with them is great motor and built. but still more expensive. If you it my first buy of course I will go dremel, but bosch as device is a great add to exciting dremel attachments arsenal

Excellent tool!
I have worked with every major brand rechargeable (cordless) rotary tool and the Bosch 12v is head and shoulders above every other brand (including Milwaukee and Dremel). Battery life is pretty good and tool feels solid in hand.

A great rotary tool if you already use Bosch 12V lithium batteries
I already have a Dremel rotary tool, but it has a short coiled AC power cord that always seems to interfere with the tool's use, not to mention requiring an extension cord due to the short length. I wanted a cordless rotary tool, but one that uses batteries that I already have on hand. This tool uses the standard Bosch 12V lithium batteries that I have for my Bosch cordless drill, impact driver, oscillating tool, etc, so it's a good addition to my toolbox. It is liberating not to have to drag around an extension cord. This tool also has a bright light to illuminate your working area, but I find it provides the best illumination when I hold the tool with the switch/dial on the bottom, which to me seems like it is upside down. It is a very powerful tool, and is probably a little too big/powerful for delicate etching or engraving. I mostly use it with the EZ Lock cutoff wheels, which work great. This tool doesn't seem to be available in the U.S., and I think mine is an import from Korea, although the tool itself says it is Made in China.

This thing is awesome
Put frankly, this dremmel is one of the best you can buy. I have used this on major fiberglass repairs on an early 70's sailboat (very heavily laid fiberglass) I have used this to clean welds and for small steel cuts in a metal shop where we build and repair picking and sanding agricultural equipment for cranberry bogs (yeah I'm from Massachusetts, and no you can't officially get this dremmel in the USA, voids the manufacturer warrantee but I cant imagine breaking this thing unless you're actively trying to), and I have used this dremmel for fine sanding mahogany and cherry moulding for a few other boat interiors. This thing is great. Great battery life, well balanced and feels good to hold, its just a great multipurpose tool. I can't for the life of my understand why bosch wont officially introduce this thing to the north american market but I'm glad I got it anyway.

12v compatible - feels great in the hand - not brushless
Works with Bosch 12v. Feels great in the hand. I think Bosch owns Dremel so it's no surprise that the Dremel heads fit (in case you want to use this with Lee Valley's mini plunge base or other Dremel attachments). Dremel quick release chuck fits. This little thing is a great problem solvers / detail work pony. It's not a die grinder, so I think the power feels good for 12v. Not brushless like many of the new 12v Bosch. Great tool - will update if it fails earlier than expected.

Not enough power.
I doesn't have a lot of power. While I was cutting a piece of wood it kept shutting off.

Shares batteries with my 12V Bosch tools
I wish this was in Bosch's US tool line (this is a grey market bosch tool). I love that it uses the same 12v batteries as my Bosch drill and impact driver. Tool ergonomics are good and speed adjust dial is nice. I've used it in a pinch to cut a couple hundred steel bolts shorter for work and it handled it without issue. It does vibrate a bit more than my original corded Dremel tool.
