Quilting Design Wall - 72" White

Works great for arranging and designing your quilt blocks. I will say, it is a bit tedious to put together and it could be sturdier. Not too convenient for setting up and taking down if you wish to do that often.

It isn’t as sturdy as I thought it would be. I have a place to lean it on to help with stabilizing. I have to use my large quilt clips to keep it up there but I love it. It’s so much better than the floor. I can put it up when needed, store it away when I don’t.

While the quality looks great and the assembly should be easy I found that the parts are wrong. I ordered the 72” design wall. The flannel is 72” but the frame rods are only 54”. Unfortunately I didn’t get around to assembling the wall until my window to return was past. I’m out nearly $100 and still have no design wall.

Not super sturdy, but it gets the job done whether you are hanging blocks or a whole quilt minus the batting. Easy to assemble cable tie the 2 cross braces together for good measure.

I was hesitant about ordering because of some of the reviews. But I’m so happy I took a chance. All the pieces were there, nothing broken or damaged. Instructions were easy to follow and I put it together by myself within 20-30 minutes. I didn’t quite understand how to attach the support legs so it can stand alone. But I intended to lean it against a wall so it’s not a problem and I think I could watch an online video and figure it out if I want. I have three separate 14” blocks plus 10 smaller 7” blocks on the wall. The flannel has plenty of texture to hold them all without falling off for the past several days. I have the design wall leaning at a slight angle against the wall. So far no problems and I have been careful to use only a slight pressure to smooth the blocks to the flannel. My 3 year old granddaughter gave it a slightly harder ‘workout’ but it’s still standing and blocks are in place! :) I had tried a couple different diy walls but I wasn’t happy with any of them. Very happy I took the chance in this one! Not sure about maneuverability or how easy it is to take down and put up. I intend to leave it in place for the foreseeable future.

Good product concept and easy to asemble; lightweight. However, 2 cross frame poles are not sufficient for sturdiness of 72" size. Had to order four (4) additional frame poles (for 72" size) (and additional 2 pkgs of pole clips) to place additional 2 frame poles on each side to assure sturdiness. Also, package parts list indicated 6 frame poles were included, whereas 8 were actually included and needed. (Note: 4 were used for each side of the flannel wall, 1 was used in the middle of each side and crossed each other, using another 2 frame poles and then remaining 2 were used for the legs.) Have to very careful with clips - they break easily.

Although it is large and takes up space, it is perfect to add quilt squares when piecing a quilt and making decisions. I kept it up while working on a quilt top and was able to easily sew the top together without having to constantly run back and forth to another spare bedroom where I used to work off a guest bed. It was fairly easy to set up, although I think it is easier to have two people do it together, and it was very easy to take down. Takes minimum room to store. I also bought one for my daughter who quilts and she loves hers as well. One thing, as the quilt was being sewn together, the weight did not allow it to attach as easily to the "wall", so I just at that point I used pins. Still was a nice effect to see the quilt from a stand up point of view.

This is a wonderful portable quilt design wall and I have rated it 5 stars but in case you were wondering why I had a lower rating for the other questions, well that really should be self explanatory, because this is a portable item therefore, it’s not going to be that sturdy once it is erected and you will need to treat it respectfully and of course, the same is true of portability once erected, it really cannot be moved about without the help of 2 people but, when broken down and in its case, it is highly portable and very easy to stow away.I’m am very glad to have purchased this and would recommend it to anyone wanting a portable solution.
