Nikon snap-on lens cap Protects selected lenses of SLR cameras

Counterfeit!
The item appears to be listed on Amazon as Nikon brand, but the lens cap I received from C-focus is clearly counterfeit. Check the reseller carefully before ordering. I have returned my lens cap and am re-ordering from a different reseller. In case you are curious about the counterfeit lens cap, here's what I noticed:1) The pinch mechanism is rough and the sliding pieces do not move precisely.2) On Nikon caps, the plastic edges in the center of the cap where you pinch are angled so that as you pinch your finger tips slide in towards the cap and maintain grip. This counterfeit item did not reproduce that feature and when I pinch, my fingers slide off.3) The plastic is of a different type. All 4 of my Nikon original caps have a shine to the plastic, this cap has a dull matte finish on the back.4) All 4 of my Nikon original caps have the model number embossed into the back of the cap. This counterfeit item has a raised model number.I have no problem buying third-party accessories, some are great, but they must be labeled as such. This item appeared on the product page to be listed as genuine Nikon and the packaging appeared to be genuine Nikon.I don't fault Amazon, as this item was sold by Amazon on behalf of C-focus. My lens cap is going back and I will never buy anything listed by this seller.

Counterfeit Crap!
This IS NOT A GENUINE NIKON CAP!as others have pointed out there are obvious differences with this cap1. Finish marks are very defined (Nikon is very smooth)2. the info stamping is a bolder and larger font than the Nikon3. springs used are very unevenly matched, feels as there is sand in the slide4.There is a hole in the cap for a tether (Nikon doesn't do this)5. Missing the Made in ThailandThese points are highlighted in the photosYes my genuine cap used is a LC-72 but the only difference is the size of 72mm not 77, even the 52mm, 58mm, 67mm all look the sameIm using it as a cap over the metal screw in hood on my 85mm 1.8D so it works for now.But buyer beware its not genuine Nikon as stated.

Won't stay on the lens
Compared to my Nikon lens caps, the springs don't have as much pressure and the serrated teeth that hold it into the lens are pretty flat. This cap pops off the lens without even touching it. One good bump on my 80-200 and the cap flies off. I literally cannot pry the Nikon caps off my other lenses with moderate fingertip pressure. I guess there is a reason they sell it with a lanyard. Also, there is a tiny hole -- maybe 3/32 of an inch -- in one edge of the front of the cap, I suppose to attach the lanyard. Personally, I like lens caps to keep dust and debris off the lens, and this hole is going to let some in, though admittedly very little. One positive note-- it does say "Nikon" and look about like an OEM cap.

Not Genuine!
As others have noted, the item sold here appears to be counterfeit. I received the cap today and compared it to a factory genuine cap.1) The "Made in Thailand" country of origin is missing off the inside2) Nikon lettering and font is slightly different3) Cap is matte finish vs. low gloss4) LC-77 is wrong way inside relative to Nikon lettering on outside.5) There is a hole on the side for the included lens holder, which isn't present on any genuine Nikon cap.

I have no idea what others bought but this lens cap fits on my 28-300 VR lens just fine. My lens hood fits over it with no problems. My only complaint would be that it took too long to get here - to the US - from China. I'm surprised there's no warehouse here.

Happy with the product and received extra string to keep the cover in place.
Lost the one which I had. A sticker with string to keep the cover in place when in use was hidden gem that was NOT published. But was included in the product - so nice for the seller to think about it. Willing to do business in future too.

Worth every penny.
Perfect for lenses with deep lens hoods. Much improved design for removing and replacing cap without the need to remove hood first. Much better quality than after market lens caps that always fall off in your camera bag and scratch lenses and filters. Typical of Nikon's high quality.

Now I have two...
Misplaced the original cap on a photo shoot recently. Panic as I never leave lenses unprotected... Ordered one from Amazon which arrived the following day about the same time as I found the original... At this price I am happy to have a spare!

As good as expected from Nikon
It is what It's supposed to be and does what it's supposed to do. Well made as everything is from Nikon which is what we pay the extra for.

Does what it does.
I've never been a big fan of Nikon's lens cover attachment system. Too easy to loose. But it does what it does and there's no additional option though.

Does the job really well
I got this as a replacement cap for my Canon 17-55 EF-S 2.8. Works better than the Canon one and is very easy to take off and put back on while the hood is on. Like the center grips.
