Draper09941 Felling Axe with Fibreglass Shaft, 680g

Good strong tool, recommend to others.

I decided to buy this felling axe because of the reduced price but the picture is wrong the axe you receive is tiny and isn't any good for felling.the handle is only 330mm / 13 inches long which make a total length of 400mm / 16 inches..totaly misleading and shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Nowhere near as good as the rrp suggests...not heavy enough or sharp enough for even small conifer branches...but works for splitting dry stuff

It's an axe - you hit things with it to cut them down... I can't really say anything more than that -if you want an axe you already know that...BadThe blade wasnt that sharpIt has a really pointless crappy blade "guard" (get yourself a proper strap on guard you will need it).Luminous dayglo yellow may not be to your tastes.GoodIt's cheap as anythingShock abosrbing handle with superb rubberised grip.The blade sharpens easily and holds a good edgeSlight concave head is good for general work.Appears to be Scout proof and very strong.Note - this is not a log splitting axe - it's not got the weight and it's not wide enough. For a general camp axe for collecting firewood and splitting thinner stuff this excels.

Took the package from the postman this morning, unwrapped the axe and had the tree chopped down - all in under ten minutes - absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend this product, which had just the right weight, sharpness and balance for me to do a neat job.

Unfortunately the picture for this listing is incorrect. The axe shown is the 1.6kg long-handled felling axe, whereas the item is actually a short handled axe. I am not even sure you could describe the short handled version as a felling axe.

Seems a good solid axe and I understand that for safety the edge would be blunt but easy to sharpen. The only thing I did not like is that the safety cover was a bit weak,would of been pleased if it was sold with a good quality leather all over head sheath.
