Reasonable price - good charger
Came with 4 AAA batteries. The batteries are wrapped tight in plastic so you almost can't tell. My kids just about threw them out when they couldn't get them to work. Then we realized each battery was individually wrapped so tight we could barely tell it was there. Once we removed the plastic batteries charged and all is good.

NiMH & NiCD Universal Recharger
Looking for a travel charger for an overseas vacation, we found the Vidpro Power 2000 XP350. It operates on 110/220V input, includes a European (two round pin) adapter, and its foldable plug allows packing without concern about puncturing other items. It has LED charge indicators and also comes with four 1150 mA NiMH AAA batteries, making the purchase price even more appealing. The surprise came when, upon arrival, we realized that it accepted AA-size cells as well. While some specification details, Amazon's for instance, mention this in the fine print, the main product's name and description imply that it is an AAA recharger only. While AAA recharging is what we had needed, the AA capability is a bonus.Looks well-constructed, packs easily, handles the most common electronic device battery sizes and types, and includes 4 batteries in the price. A very good value.

Power 2000 XP350-11 AAA Charger - Defective Unit
XP-350-11 Rapid Charger for Ni-MH / NiCD Batteries, Input: 110/220V, Output: 500mA Max, Size: 2-1/2 x 4 x 1-1/8 inches. This charger was sold by Photo4Less through Amazon, and came with 4-AAA Ni-MH 1150 mAh batteries (pre-charged) and European adapter as described. The plug folds flat into the back of the charger. As noted by others, the batteries are individually wrapped in clear plastic which some people may not have removed; the charger also accepts AA size batteries. The batteries need to be charged in pairs -- either 2 or 4 at a time. There are two LED Indicator lights - one for each pair of batteries: SOLID RED = charging; SOLID GREEN = fully charged. Results: The first time I needed to charge a pair of batteries, I used the right two slots. After inserting the two batteries, the LEDs blinked red and green a couple of times, and then the right LED stayed solid red indicating that the batteries were charging. After 3hrs and 45 mins, the LED turned green, and the batteries were charged. So far so good.A few days later it was time to charge the next two batteries. This time I used the two left slots, and again the LEDs blinked red and green and then solid red, indicating that the batteries were charging. However, after 6 hours, the LED was still red and the two batteries were getting hot. It appears that the batteries charged, but the charger did not shut off.On my third attempt at charging, I again used the two right slots. This time both LEDs only blinked red\, and never did change to solid red, and after 3 hours, the batteries had not been charged. Putting them back into the left slots, the batteries charged okay, but the charger again did not shut off after 4 hours. Placing 4 batteries at once also resulted in blinking red LEDs.Repeated trials confirmed the the left side would charge batteries, but would not shut off, and the right side would not charge anything. Conclusion: This was a defective unit, and because it also requires batteries to be charged in pairs, I would not recommend it.After further research on chargers (especially the excellent reviews and FAQs by N Lee the Engineer), it appears that the following should be avoided:1) Chargers that require batteries to be charged in pairs. Unless you start with batteries that are equally drained, you'll end up with one battery only partially charged.2) "Dumb" chargers that charge for a preset amount of time -- potentially overcharging the batteries.3) "Quick" chargers that may shorten the life of the battery by using a too-high charging current. As a result of NLee's reviews, I decided on a La Crosse BC-1000 (includes 4-AA, 4-AAA, and carrying case). I have had it for a couple of weeks now, and so far am very impressed. NLee also had high marks for the less expensive Sony BCG34HRE4KN (includes 4-AA), and Sanyo eneloop brand batteries.

Power 2000 Charger with Rechargeable Batteries
Easy to use for the AA and AAA rechargeable batteries. Comes in handy to recharge batteries for radios and small lanterns when preparing for possible power outages due to storms. A bonus receiving rechargeable batteries AND having an adapter to use in Europe. Can't go wrong with this one.

excellent in all respects
a fine product with both AA and AAA options. You can only charge in groups of two (2 OR 4 batteries at a time) but the charge times are fast compared to another charger i own and the batteries hold their charge quite well.
