Requires connection end of sch40 pipe
The pipe or (smooth side) is the same diameter as schedule 40 4" pipe, so you have to use the flared connection end of a pipe or a 4" connector, like an elbow or tee with this fitting

DWV PVC Pipe To 4-inch Hose Dust Collection Adapter Fitting
This Unit, as you can note in the enlarged photograph of it has left hand treads. The standard dust hose has right-hand threads. Obviously, they cannot be used together. The standard for such a fitting would be a right-hand thread; someone goofed. I used a belt sander and a coarse file to remove the threads and though it was a very tight and nearly impossible to get the hose on with the treads removed, it is useable. The other problem with the fitting is that the smooth end is meant to be inserted into a standard white pvc sewer pipe; to use it I chamfered both the end of the fitting on the outside and the inside lip of the sewer pipe. Doing this allowed me, with the aid of a carpenter's hammer (having a flat impacting surface) to drive the fitting into the sewer pipe an 1-1/2 without any damage. To remove the fitting from the sewer pipe, I used a small block of wood and the hammer to work around the rim several times. Though this one with my improvement is usuable,I hope to find a higher quality fitting and with right threads if possible.

Fits schedule 20 sewer line perfectly
I used the thin-wall schedule-20 4” plastic line for my dust collection system. This connector fits perfectly inside the pipe. Use the pipe marked as sewer line and NOT the schedule-40 pipe used for drains and vents.

Doesn't fit 4" pipe
Good idea but you shouldn't have to jump through hoops like heating or splitting to get it to fit.

Had to modify
It did not slip right in to the PVC pipe like I thought it would, I had to cut 4 slits in it to collapse it a little. The dust collection hose end did fit in as it was supposed to.

Worked Great
These worked great. I started my dust collection with 4" PVC and the started to switching over to dust collection hose and found these on Amazon and they were the ticket.
